SV650....I've got a 00 sitting in the garage right now just waiting for temps to cool down. $3K got fully prepped track bike. GSXR front end, Woodcraft rear sets, Penski shock, full system, 2 sets of shark skins, 2 sets of rim with rotors, Ohlins dampner along with F&R stands and service manual with complete records.

Another small detail....its not for sale. Just giving you an idea of what $2500 can get you. Good luck!

WERA Forums; bikes for sale. It's going to be a box of chocolates like anything else, with the benefits/drawbacks of being already "tracked," like already wired, race plastics, probably dialed well, lots of aftermarket goodies, pretty likely already crashed ("softened") so you won't have to worry about that, etc. The WERA folks are likely to be more honest about stuff than your average *bay/CL seller--it's a fairly tight community. The bikes have had hard lives, but you're not looking for a commuter or a Starbucks queen.

Could easily wind up with a recent model, lightly rashed, already prepped, non-streetable track bike for that money from a racer trading up to the latest.

Im biased, but if your a smaller guy and lightweight, get one of the many 250 cc 2 strokes, Honda NSR, Suzuki RGV, or kawasaki KR-1S (you could get the Aprilia RS250, but from what I here they are a little pricey in the states)

2 strokes are great for track education, crazy fast cornering, and really light, plus maintenance is fairly easy as they are simple engines.

I thought you had it narrowed down to the SV 650 or the FZR 400?

I still go with the recommendation of a used SV 650!

I had! but then things fell through and it seems like sv's are a hott commodity, everytime id make an offer it would fall through. So im currently looking at all other options within a reasonable price range
