    not sparking!

was going down a long road on my way to work doing 55-60 and my bike just died! so i rolled over into a lay-by and it just cut out, so i pushed it to work, got into work and removed spark plug (looked fine a nice brown) so i replaced it anyway and still wassent sparking, i then went to see if it sparked on the head and neither of them did, so i tried both the spark plugs out on a car and they worked fine, so why isnt my cdi making a spark?

i know it could be my ht or cap but whats the worst it could be?

The worst case scenario is that you coils are burnt down, but I'd say that's highly unlikely. Also it could be that your CDI is toast. The coils are an ~?80 replacement, the CDI is like ?25 for an aftermarket replacement. This is worst case scenario, though. It's probably just a loose or faulty connection somewhere.

From the coils (located behind the flywheel) goes out some wires. Check that none of the wires on the CDI are disconnected and their connections aren't corroded. You should be looking at a red, white, green and a red/white wire there. Check the connections on those. These are basically what you need to get a spark. I don't know how the kill switch works on your model, but it could be failing aswell.
Another thing is the spark plug cap on the HT lead. Check that it isn't corroded/rusted.

Try and spray WD40 on connections, which among other things removes rust and corrosions = better contact between wires.

If you still had the stock CDI unit it probably blew out the capacitators in the ignition, most of the time if you turn on the ignition than and hold the sparkplug to metal it will just give >1< tiny spark wen you hit the starter button and than nothing more.

Its a common problem that they blow up wen your driving at a higher rpm for a few minutes, some blew up already after a few months and some might work for years but at one point in time it will give this problem with the capacitators in the CDI.
