Here are a few shots of my new toy-

It's a '99 Aprilia RS 250. Here's another with The 6 in the driveway-

Heres a few more

And from behind (http://www.netspace.net.au/~eslenser/Our%20aprilia/RS250,%20at%20home3%20280102.jpg)
The extras that I got with it (http://www.netspace.net.au/~eslenser/Our%20aprilia/RS%20extras2.jpg)
Bringing it 900Km home (http://www.netspace.net.au/~eslenser/Our%20aprilia/RS250,%20new%20in%20transit1%20270102.jpg) (I think my son is keen on it :D )
Another transit pic (http://www.netspace.net.au/~eslenser/Our%20aprilia/RS250,%20new%20in%20transit2%20270102.jpg) (Letting down the trailer tyres so it isn't too bouncy).
The 5 bikes now in my garage (http://www.netspace.net.au/~eslenser/Our%20aprilia/Garage%201%20280102.jpg)

my local dealer actually has one in the showroom.... but he said its not street legal :( (the one in the showroom has no headlights & taillights)... how come yours does? on the Aprilia site it shoes the 250 without having lights. Did you put them on yourself or do they come with lights?

So why is the 250 not legal in the states then? I'm assuming b/c there is no headlight & taillights? if you got those could you make it legal?

Is the RS250 a 2-stroke? b/c i know that you aren't allowed to have anything over 50cc a 2 stroke.... thats why the Italjet Dragster's are illegal :(

I would SOOO want to buy that bike though...

LUCKY guy!
hope you have fun!!

Shame you guys can't get em registered in the ststes.
To answer your question, the RS is legal in Australia, that's how I get away with it :p

Try a euro or Aus Aprilia site, you'll see em with lights. You guys are gettin stiffed!!

There is a way to make the RS250 legal for street use. I can find out - but I have to ask someone over at www.sportbikes.net (http://www.sportbikes.net)

I believe the main reason is the 2-strokeness of it all and emmissions.

yeah i looked further into the laws, and talked to some local bike-shop guys, and this is what i came up with:

its illegal to have a 2-stroke motor registered over 50cc's..... now the guy said that many people have the 125's and 250's (2-strokes of other manufacturers) legalized b/c they "claim" its a 50cc on the registration/title thing.... (i didnt get the details).

But anyway so its possible, plus you'd have to add the headlight and tailights and stuff...

sounds worth it though!

But man, the bike lists for $8500!!!!! whew. nice though.
good stuff! :)
