We just uncrated our first 06 Tuono! I guess this means everybody should be getting theirs any day now.

PS: It includes the passenger seat and solo cover!

Possibly the biggest news since Columbus discovered America.

I wonder if Piaggio are still using ol' Christopher's sailing ships and navigational maps? It would explain alot actually.

Scootopia, we need pictures!

Thanks for the info! Makes me want to take time off to go and start a line up at my dealer's door!

Hope we don't have to wait much longer for them to arrive up here!

we don't get clear lenses. That's bloody annoying. :bangwall: I wonder what other hoops Aprilia had to jump through to get DOT to pass the bike. Lets hope the clear ones are available aftermarket.

I can't believe that you can sell a car in the US with clear lenses (plenty of makes) but not a bike. WTF??? :bangwall:

I am with you BB, I hope that the clear lenses become available quickly--they look much better.

Yeah, as if there weren't enough colors on the red one. Not only are there orange blinkers but there's a red brake lens. What I don't get is the the Pegasso next to it has clear lenses.

Looks like the stalks on the front turn signals might be extended further than what I have seen in other pictures too. Maybe it is just my imagination.

Tuon06 finally reaches The New World and you're on about turn signal lenses and stalk lengths?

Scootopia
03-28-2006, 02:56 PM
The bike is not really pink it's just my antique digital camera, wife has the good one. The turn signals are mounted to extenders, presumably to meet some silly DOT requirement. I don't know for sure why they didn't use the clear lenses but I think it's because they have not been homologated by Aprilia. The Capo in the background has clear turn signals that are the same as the Moto Guzzi Breva V1100. In other words when the Breva was homologated here in the US as an all new motorcycle those signals got the DOT OK but since no Aprilia thus far has been homologated w/clear signals then they would have to go through the process from scratch. I was told by an AUSA employee that the homologation process costs about $50k.

Got a terse "Give us a call" message today from Honda East (have the Tuono6 & an '06 FZ1 ordered there), but it was too late to ring EST from PST. We've got a guy over on the FZ1OA who posts all the Yamaha FZ1 shipping manifests up to date - no action there, so I've gotta think the Tuono has arrived. I have to wait untill tomorrow to find out what they have for me........the suspense is killing me!

Scootopia, thanks for the "Brokeback 'Priller" pics. :D

A bit annoying the USA Tuono doesn't have the clear lenses. That is part of its modern look IMO. Hopefully Aprilia or aftermarket will have clears available quickly!
If thy saved 50K in homologation, hopefully they'll send out 10k in clear lenses!
I'm second in line in my area and will be jumping all over that badboy...
Ship those bikes to the west NOW! :burnout:

That's a shame about the lenses. I can only assume that the '06 RSV that I have coming will be the same way.

Hopefully AF1 can hook us up with some clear ones!

alright....did some parts fish checking

the 06 Tuono rear turn signals are the same as the 04-06 RSVR, and we already have clear lenses for those in stock. See online store for part # 8127701 and 8127702. The USA is the only country who gets the yellow lenses as standard, as shown on the fish

The front turn signals, see picture, they only list one part # for all countries (a Moto-Guzzi part #, no less). Now, the USA bikes do get an extra part (#11) in the picture, and the bolt (#8) is longer for USA models. This spaces the TS out further as the USA DOT has turn signal placement laws.

The rear 06 Tuono taillight IS different from the 04-05 RSVR ones. They will not be interchangable. The 06 Tuono one is the same as the 06 RSVR one. The USA gets the red one, while everyone else gets the clear one. We've had the clear 04-05 RSVR taillights on order a very long time already. Still on backorder. Aprilia did not list a price yet for the 06 clear version of the taillight, but the old 04-05 RSVR ones were around $220.

For the 2006 RSVR, the USA gets the same front turn signals as the 05 RSVR, so the clear ones we already sell will work for the 06 RSVR

Well, put me down as being interested in a clear '06 RSV/Tuono tail light as soon as they become available.

I'm going to order the turn signal lens covers from you right now.

I suggest you keep the colored lenses in a safe place after replacing them.
I don't like clear lenses (I'm a bit odd) so I'd be happy to take them off your hands. :)

I'm sorry guys, but I laughed so hard when I saw the pics of the Tuono!!! You guys have been waiting so long for them, and I was thinking 'at last they can get their hands on them' an then the page loaded they were pink!!! (I realise know that it was the camera) but you gotta beleive me, I was crying for you at first.

Called Honda East this morning............they had indeed received my black '06 Tuono. They're overnighting the papers, I send them back signed (with the cashier's check of course), and they ship it to me. Should be looking at it late next week.

Here it is - check out the paint on the tail section..............I haven't seen that pattern on Aprilia's (or anyone else's) website:

Can`t wait to see the bike with the european lights. I have planned to paint the air intakes under the headlights in the same red as the decals.
The belly pan looks different from the promo pictures at aprilia.com. There it was grey with Aprilia logos on.

I'm accustomed to a 190 tire on my just-sold `Busa but, in the pic above, the 190 looks huge on the Tuono. There's no mistaking this bike for anything Japanese--it's seductive in a classy, form-follows-function way that screams "universal, do it all, bad-ass machine". If it works as well as it looks, I may never ride anything else again. Please excuse me, I'm in love...! :D

we got in 6 brand new Tuonos today.....

clear turn signal update

these work on the front turn signals.

We also removed the USA front turn signal spacer. You will need two M6x20 bolts to re-bolt up the stock front signals, since the stalks are now so much shorter. Pictures will be posted soon....

This is more like it - bikes on display & available! Who's going to be the first to buy an Aprilia off the AF1 showroom floor? I've already got mine, or I would be on the phone straightaway! I bet it'll feel GOOOOD to "pop the cherry" on a newly minted & virginal dealership. :D

Thanks for the info on the '06/'07 clear front TS lenses and mounting stalk mod.............I've got two packages coming back-to-back from you guys, now there will be a third. Please let us know anything you find out on the availability of the new RSVR/Tuono clear tail light assembly............I'd really like to complete the "clear look".
