Suggestions?

There are some killer roads up by the Rock Store.
Also....you might run into Jay Leno on the Y2K bike....make sure you bring your cameras..I forgot mine that day.... :bangwall:

The Rockstore requires and early start for us Orange County riders.
Its 63 miles from my house.
I like to get up to the Coffe shop up in Malibu, next to the Shell station.
Its a big meeting place for riders, before heading up Malibu Canyon.
So we can tenatively meet up there ..say 8:30 sharp?
BEAUK1 can refuel with Caffeine.... :cathat:

Or if we head south..we can hit Palomar on the back side, and also Mesa Grande......

Thoughts ? Suggestions?

I say we head south!

Rock Store fun for sure...but, I think the ride we did Sat. is WAAAAAY better!

I might be able to make that one, as long as we avoid the palomar mountian nuthouse. There are a couple of little known roads west of palomar that are interesting. :fangs: And who knows, it might be cool enough to ride Montezuma Valley. Lunch in Borrego then back up Banner grade to Wynola road then old Julian road and Highland Valley maybe? That dumps you onto the 15 near Eccondildo for the drone home.

Lucky Dave,

Sounds good to me.
Since you are a "local" feel free to lead the way. Can you come up with a route for that day?

I did Borrego two years ago....and it was awesome, except for a couple of
miles of tar snakes.

Julian is a fun ride as well. Cant leave there without stuffing some pie in your gut. Plus, Mesa Grande is a nice ride.

Sounds like you know where you are going! Call the time and meeting place and we'll meet ya there next week! I don't think most of us know San Diego as well as you.

I guess it's on. We meet sunday at 8:00 sharp at my buddy's place in Oceanside. Temps permitting, we'll have lunch in Borrego. I'll try to include Mesa Grande, Montezuma Valley, Banner Grade, Wynola Road, Old Julian Road, Highland Valley road, and some little known short, but fun, ultra tight little twisties. The ride will terminate at the 15 near Escindildo. This ride will proceed at a moderate, non squidly pace. I hate picking people up off the ground. pm me for directions and roll call.

I'm in! I'll be two up on a cruiser,,, I mean a futura.
Can we start out through ortega highway in capistrano, then out to the 15 fwy from there?
We could meet at the chevron station in capistrano at the 5 fwy, very easy to find.

Keithroxx,

Sounds good. I will be coming down the 73 to the 5 to Ortega.
So we can meet up at the Chevron. It will have to be early, so we can make it down to meet up with group. I am sure Beauk1 will join us too, and anyone else coming down from the North of John Wayne Airport.

I guess it's on. We meet sunday at 8:00 sharp at my buddy's place in Oceanside. Temps permitting, we'll have lunch in Borrego. Lucky Dave,

Let us know where we can meet you (where in Oceanside) so we can plan on being ON TIME for the ride.

Once Lucky gives us the meeting place, we can plan a time to meet.
I am thinking around 7am, in order to make it to Oceanside by 8 SHARP

shouldnt the guys from Oceanside ride up to Ortega hwy and we leave from there? 8:00 am?

LUCKY DAVE
09-27-2005, 09:45 AM
The tight twisties start near, and east of, the meeting point in oceanside, and we will be covering terrain south and east from there. I and the two ridres with me from San Diego live south of the meeting point, so it would be sensless to ride 50 miles further north, just to backtrack.

I'm good for this ride. Here's my two cents - Ortega, Idyllwild (243), Warner Springs, Borrego Springs, Julian. Earlier the better - 7am preferably. I usually start at the Chevron on Antonio and Oso.

At this time there are 7 riders planning to make this ride, and the route and times are at this point set in stone. The plan is a tour of the San Diego mountains, led by the locals. We will NOT be subjecting ourselves to the Mt. Palomar Psycho Death Wish Squid Races.

You are more than welcome to join us, so PM me for the details if you want to attend. See posts above for more info. Meeting time is 8am in oceanside.

The group that I normally ride with on Sundays, is going to Idlewild. If you have not done that ride, it is a good ride. If you want to do it, now is the time, because in a month or so it will be too cold. If your interested, we meet in Rancho Cucamonga. If your interested, contact me.

So... where are we going and what date/time?

Just kidding, Beau. PM sent. Got a new helmet to try out this weekend anyway. Might pick up a ZX10R for the heck of it, what do you guys think? I'll still keep the 'Priller but want to experience 170bhp at the wheel before I die. (Heck, the 170bhp at the wheel might accelerate that process, right?)

Had an '02 R1, never did like the gix1k. I tried the zx10r today, what an amazing bike! Small and light with more power than I ever will need in this life or the next! That thing turned and handled like my 600, maybe even better. Heck, the new 1000s weigh the same as 600s now....

Yeah fellas, please set up regular rides on the weekends. Too bad I missed out this weekend. Too many engagements that I couldn't get out of. My Aprilia spent a lonely weekend in the garage indeed and I didn't get to try out my new Shark helmet! Guess I'll have to go put it on and stand in front of my fan (set on high) to simulate the ride.
