View Full Version : Anyone replace their gas cap?

Filling the tank is just plain annoying through that tiny opening. Has anyone replaced theirs? I've never looked into replacing one. Is there an industry standard size/mount?

I don't know if the 04 is the same but on my 01 I was able to remove the cap and then use the Dremel to enlarge the hole in the plastic piece so I can see past the fuel nozzle when filling up. You have to be careful not to splash it but it's much easier to fill when you can see the level rise.

There is an aftermarket cap. However, it does not have a lock(thank God). My friend had one put on his 04 Factory. I am not at home right now, but as soon as I find out about it I will let you know. I do know that he got it from a dealer in South Carolina.

Have you actually seen a gas cap from LP to fit the 04 Mille?

I have real 04-05 RSVR racing gas caps on the way to me right now. They ARE significantly different than the older Mille/RS/SL/Tuono ones.

They are styled like the ones we sell for the old Mille. They should be here in a few more days. I think I am only getting black ones at first.

I modified my Tuono fuel cap per the great photos and instructions in an earlier thread. I am very happy with the result. Larger fill opening so I can see the fuel rising and enlarged breather hole (look carefully). Easy fill and no fuel splashing out . Hope this works on your Mille.
