View Full Version : MAN the Cube is ugly!

I just watched the Suzuka testing video and Colin was riding with his new leathers that match the bike and it is all just so hiddeous....just a hodge podge of black, orange, and red with no real design....and that big red circle that says "Alice" on it just keeps throwing the Brady Bunch into my head....oh well, they're footing the bill so I guess I can't complain.....but then I watched the Honda Pons testing with Biaggi and they're color scheme is probably the best I've ever seen....that yellow with the blue accents is just so tasteful and stands out without being too gaudy....very nice! BTW in Suzuka testing Colin was 7th being just 7/10's of a second off the pace....Nori was a full second off the pace.....but compared to last year I'll be happy with anything in the top 10.

Are you catching some video streams off the MotoGP site? As far as schemes go, I bet the Cube looks pretty trick up close but from afar the many colors will run together and cancel out. Colin's job, of course, is to keep that thing where the cameras show it nearby! Say ahLEEchay...ahLEEchay. Was Edwards running the conventional muffler or the monster side-pipe?

I dunno man...I just watched the vid again on Motogp.com......there really isn't a color scheme on the bike....it's basically black and has 3 big stickers slapped on....Alice, Aprilia, and SAX......and you get a real good shot of Colin's leathers.....ugh!!! The Alice logo on the chest has this striped rainbow background and it's just awful.....but hey, I'd root for the Cube if it was sh*t bristle brown and chrome.....btw looks like Colin was running the muffler this time.....man it sounds SO sweet :)

you sure that was Suzuka and not Catalunya?

Personally I like the bikes - I think they look distinctive and funky ... I like they way they have incorporated the Texan and Japanese flags into the design ... A least they're not riding a packet of cigarettes around like the Ducati guys and Biaggi .. ....

You're a little behind the rest of us ApriliaFox it seems, as the '03 Cube comes in full Alice colouring with a rainbow color scheme on the side fairings, those flag style'd ones where for testing purposes only...

This is the new race bike...

Or go look in the Aprilia MotoGp Launch thread for more pics

yeah.....ugh!!!!! I see potential though....looks like the red of the Alice logo and the red of the Aprilia Logo are about the same color....they should have made the bikes red and just put the white Alice Lettering big on the sides and done away with the rainbow background....then white Aprilia all along the bottom where it is on the 00 Mille's.....just keep the SAX on the front fairing...that would look tight!

Who is a photoshop wizard who could whip this up for us (..cough...cough....Cruzel the graphics genius???)

Your right, the cube is .... man too many colors, they need to coordinate you gotta coordinate:rollin:

Anyway, it is so fast you will not see it, at least it sounds great!
Who cares which colour schemes a race bike has as long it wins.
Personally I would like just 1 or 2 colours and no stickers at all. But who can effort nowadays to race without sponors?
When I raced (long time ago on a national level) we would not even paint our bikes fairings, cheaper, you crash anyway and it was a bit less heavy. Only when you had a sponsor you would put some sticker on and some wanted to see a decent bike.
But they would have to pay for that. The only thig we did was cleaning it thoroughly to see eventual cracks in the frames or crankcases. That was also the reason why most race bikes in the 70's had a not dark coloured frame (red, yellow , white) .
You could detect cracks easily.

Talking about stickers, Aprilia should make their "Haga" replica's cheaper instead of more expensive. The guys who have one are making "free" publicity for the sponsors!

I see what you mean ... been staring at my Aprilia.com desktops too long ....

Regardless of the colors the bike itself still looks preatty sweet. Was checking out the MotoGP web site and it sounds awesome! Was wondering about the "Grissen Bon" sponser, who are they?, and who are the evil eys that are on it? I'd just like to see Honda have some competition this year even though I like Rossi.

It looks like a house painter threw up on it. Aprilia has gone from having far and above the most beautifull GP bike in the paddock, to a Jackson Pollock painting on wheels. Poor Colin. He better be fast to make that thing is a blurr.

Grissen Bon are a bread stick and snack cracker maker. Alice(ah leechay) are an ISP company in Italy. Very popular I understand though I too would like to see the rainbow dumped as it is too busy looking.

The Cube does make 230hp and the Honda is rumored to make 250hp however the problem has been with getting the power to the ground. With the Aprilia it wants to wheelie too much, with the Honda its controlling wheel spin. Both bikes are electronically tuned down from absolute peak hp. The Ducs made an impressive debut. I hope CE2 and Haga are given more testing time as this is the only way to improve imo.

The Cube does sound great and nasty.
