how fast should i expect my sr to go after it as reached the 4000km mark(restricted). now i'm at the 2600 mark and i'm going about 65(on the speedo, i know this isn't accurate) and my bike is still restricted.

and how fast should i expect t to go when i remove the variator shim.

thanx in advance

my mate has a sr50 carb and it has about 8000km on the clock he says that the speedo records as much up to 75mph (there is speedo eror, i do no), but this still seems fast.

his has been de-ristricted and he has got a race pipe

i no u was asking about di-tech but they are the same in perforamance

hope this helps marsden101

If your scooter goes 50mph I don't think it can still be restricted. Mine is derestricted (Variator) and has the updated fuel map and lighter clutch weight. This was done by my Aprilia dealer before I picked it up. It goes 52mph... I was told by my dealer that if it was still restricted it would go about 35mph.

look alright if mine can only do 35mph restricted then why the hell have i been able to overtake cars!!!! i havent had any thing done to my bike only a couple of services and i dont think that they de-restrict them then now do they?
when i bought mine from new i went about 35mph but it slowly speeded up over a period of 8000km!!! any way my dad followed me once on his mille R and he said that i was doing no less than 50mph on flat roads and i dont think that his speedo is out by 15mph!!!!!!!

plaese reply to this JIMMC15 i want to see what you have to say about it?

my speedo is almost accurate, and it says mine does 52mph top speed, but dont forget mine is fcuked at the moment

i thought mine was restricted, but when it went in for its 4000km service, i was told it had been de restricted, even tho i hadnt done it or asked anyone to do it for me

anyway, i cant wait til mine is fixed, and hopefully it will be goin more than 52mph

Derestriction in Most states appears to be an automatic proceedure. I didn't have to ask for mine to be derestricted because in Florida they are automatically derestricted as soon as the dealer get's them. I went to 3 different dealers and none of them even mentioned to me that their was a derestriction process. All of their scooters are only sold derestricted as I asked each dealer before leaving their store. Some States apparently have 50cc scooter top speed restrictions so those states may require it to be restricted in order to meet Moped requirements. Florida allows 50cc motorcycles/scooters to be driven without a Motorcycle license, but you must have a drivers license and have it registered and has no top speed requirement. I could have bought this scooter from any of these dealers and it would have been derestricted and they never would have mentioned it to me unless I brought it up. It would be easy to buy a scooter and not have even known about it. I think everyone on the forum with an SR50 Ditech would agree that with standard derestriction you get about 50mph top speed (actual) no speedo error and that's what I get with both of mine.

I checked my speedo error this past weekend and it appears to be about 4mph fast. So I get 49mph top speed most of the time on flat road. 53 on the speedo.

What part of florida do you live in. I'm in St Pete, and the dealer I'm looking at said they offer de restriction as a courtesy, HMMM

I am in St. Pete also. If your looking at Barney's all of their scooters are derestricted but a derestriction charge is still added onto the price. "courtesy" derestriction... not sure what they mean by that... If your interested I purchased 2 SR50's 2002 Ditech's back in August and I have one for sale right now. It has 140mi on it and is perfect. It hasn't been ridden much. $2,200 and it's your's. It's the 250 GP replica with the number '1' on it. At least I think it's considered a 250 GP replica.

Hi there

Hard to say exactly what the true speed an SR Ditech thats derestricted but mine would indicate on the speedo between 95 and 100 km/h.as for thhe true speed I would hazzard a guess of about 90 km/ h true speed which equates to 55 mph under ideal conditions. After fitting a Malossi variator and up gear kit my bike reaches and indicated 110 km/h under ideal conditions which probably is probably around a true 60 mph approx.
