Hey guys,
I want to re-install the stock Yamaha jug on the wifes Vino so I can sell it. There is very slight scoring. (from a piston seizure) How much can I hone and still be able to use stock rings and piston? The current measurement of the cylinder bore is 1.5705" dia.
Thanks for any help!

Honing is not done to remove much material but rather to cut oil retaining cross hatched scores into the bore. If the seizure was very mino then I would just run the hone long enough to get it clean and then bolt it up and see how much compression you have. If it is less than 65 psi you will need a new top end.

Thanks Micah,
The seizure was do to the lower con-rod bearing cage coming apart. The piston and rings got pretty trashed, the crank got screwed up also, but just left a couple scores on the cylinder wall. Do you do the comp test with the throttle all the way open or closed?

Thanks Tiba,
OPEN is what I was assuming but just wanted to be sure.
