Finally, some passion and positive press about Aprilia. Can't buy that kind of advertising.

"Aprilians" Hmmmmm........

There's also a first ride article in the latest edition of SuperBike. SXV 450 and 550.

Is it just me or does this have the look of an Aprilia resurgence? Twowheels, thanks for making our day sir!

Got the sneaking suspicion that we'll at least SEE one displayed at Laguna.

80 hp from a 550????? Ummmm, that is very interesting. Is this realy a rotax engine??
This make the same power as a Duc 900. I think the $10k price is a bit high though. The Euro is making it tough on us to buy the thing though

Not a Rotax motor. Aprilia bought into the project of an independent design team formerly with Cagiva. Will this be first in a line of Made In Italy engines that their new management dreams of? Sure sounds like it.

Read the article yesterday, it seems that SXV is a great bike, it is the only twin on the supermotard circuit. They claim 80HP on the 450cc. If they could only put the engine in the rs250 chasis that would be awesome.

RSVMIllenian.... I second that idea :) I've heard rumors to that end but it was only wild speculation from the motopress would be nice to know if they're really planning on doing it.

80 hp from a 450 cc 14,000 rpm 77 lb v-twin is truely amazing :worship: No matter what chassis that engine goes in it's still a truly awe inspiring engine :worship:

If/when these bikes and/or motors make it into production, I wouldn't expect them to be near the power levels they are now. The current SXVs are prototype bikes that have been tuned for racing. I'd expect a full production model to be a good 15-20% down on power.

Interesting, I heard (can't remember where from now) that they'd scrapped the supermoto and were going to use the engine in a sportsbike instead as a replacement for the RS250.

YEAH!YEAH! What say they mate two of those things together for a liter sized v4? Do it NOW Aprilia! That would make, assuming the numbers stay the same, 140 lb motor making 160 hp and 154 ft/lbs of torque!!!! Are you sure of that 77 ft/lbs for this 450? I have a problem believing a 450 that can make 80 hp can put out almost the same figure in torque. I sure would like it to.
V4!V4!v4!V4! Make all the others seem weak Aprilia! And put that motor in a new Mille SL!

Would be nice but no.... the engine weighs 77 lbs including the electric starter. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

How interesting?

It appears that Aprilia is banking their success on an engine. A rather incredible little engine, but nonetheless, it's still just an engine.

Can it work? I hope so! Can you say "Hemi"?

Now THAT'S the best idea I've heard yet! A big bang V-4 (similar to the MotoGP Ducati) would be a fantastic motor in an RSV style chassis! V-twin sound, V-4 breathing - big power. Very cool.... :worship:

The article says it weighs just under 70 pounds.... It's a 77 degree V-twin. :)
