Post your email address and I'll send you a pic. I was up at the shop today and took some nice pics of the bike. I havent' set up a host server yet, so I can't load them on here easily. The guys have been super cool with helping me, so whatever I can do to help more parts go out the door is my moral duty

do powerbands come as standard on a rs 50 ive rode mine and i didnt feel that sickly satisfying pull of a powerband my bike is a restricted 2000 model ive already got 50 mph out of it though and it has no mods
if not would anyone be able to supply the information on where i would b able to get them from in the uk?

12-03-2002, 10:15 AM
its coz its restricted u will hav to de-restrict the exhaust to get a faster speed like 55 along flat ( more depending on weight) and then u will feel the power bands at the higher revvs

for starters powerbands are the same thing as a powervalve or arent they having rode a RS125 i really noticed the power kick in at around 7000rpm but on my wee lil beut of a 50 i aint noticed no sudden burst of power my bike goes over 9500rpm so does that mean that its derestricted in the exhaust sum1 told me that is the case i weigh just over 12 stone but giv it time and money and ill see what comes of it

have a word! the power valve is the device above the exhaurst port, can't be arsed to go into how it works, do you even have them on 50's? the powerband is the sweet spot between so many revs, can't be arsed to go into that either, but they aren't the same thing.

minestarts at 5and a half thousnd revs per minute. unrestricted, full arrow exhaust system.

01-15-2003, 02:42 PM
mine is like dead till 6k rpm, but dont realy get going to between 7k-9k rpm

My rs is undergeared at the moment with stock rear sprockets and a 13 tooth front. I have a 14 tooth front and a 44 tooth rear that have just arrived in the post but have not yet fitted them so i dont know if it will affect the powerband slightly. It is about 8,500 - 9,500 rpm :

98 RS50
79cc Cylinder
MetraKit Carbon Exhaust
Race conrod and crankshaft

PS (It is actually quite good fun to ride the bike geared this way as the front wheel comes off the floor at high revs when changing from 1st to 2nd.)
