Do you ride in the wet, with your rear tyre sliding all over the place? If you do has yoiur bike rusted alot?

i never drive if it looks like it's gonna rain... A friend of mine (alos with 73.5cc kit) slid 30ft when he tried to stop on a wet road... I wouldn't want to be in his shoes :)

Ive also ridden my bike in the rain with a rear tyre down to the nylon from too many burn out as long as i take it easy pulling off and cornering its sound and it rains a lot here in England!

i have to use my bike almost daily, rain or shine...

i take it real slow on the corners though with the thin tyres!

i would say weve had less than a week of sunshine in the last 2 months!

I hate the rain, on my sr50 that has had a really @#%$ tyre put on the back, the rear is all over the place. It even gave way on me a couple of weeks ago. I only ride in the rain when im either extremely bored or when i have to.

I did 20,000 km on my RS from March 2001 - August 2001, no matter what the weather was like as there was no way I was using public transport  Never had a problem with rust in all this time as I made sure my bike was well maintained. Having such skinny tyres and little power proves a problem in the wet though because as soon as it starts to spin it doesn't have the power to carry on spinning so grips immediatly casuing a few problems!!! Much more fun with a 125 when you can get the wheel spinning all the way upto and through 3rd gear in the wet :D

I have to ride rain or shine to get to work or college. Some times i am caught out in the rain! You can slightly notice the back end going on cornering, though it has never caught me out. I always take it slowly and carefully on a rainy day, because i dont want to f%*k it up and be left with a huge bill!
The weather's always @#%$ in the uk.

I have a TL1000r Front tyre on the rear and a stock RS50 on front... I go like clappers rain or shine, on my way to work i have a 2 mile up hill sh*t sharp corners leaning as far as normal!

I recommend a sports bike front on your rear... More grip!!

I also have to go home down the same stretch... Even fast (60/70mph) braking hard (down to 45mph) for the sharpe f*ckers!!

I never thought of that! Bet they last longer too. Bet it looks a little better too!

i never even touch my bike if the road is wet as i had a accident, where the bike skidded and flipped.- see my post.

Yes, I ride even when it rains... I use my bike for going to school, so i have to... (sorry about my rookie english, i am french)

Of, course... I just ride it really slow. That way it's not very likely you 'll fall. I mean, my rear tyre is never really all over the place. it just depends on how you ride ur bike in the rain....

yay sumone else who doesnt thrash it in the wet n fall off lie most peeps

I hate the rain. I *only* ride in the rain if I get caught, then I go real slow. I don't like road rash on me OR my bike! On my old RF600, I tried to outrun the rain....almost 100mph, and the cloud broke...all I could do was let off the throttle and slow down as the needle like raindrops smacked me. Not fun.

I'm in PA and my bike has not rusted from the rain. I think I have 300-400 wet miles on it, I just run a quick towel over it when I put it in the garage. I know what you mean about sliding mine is sideways half the way down the block when I stop quick.

my tyres are crappy!

12-14-2002, 01:41 PM
I have fairly good tires... but my bike was fully stock (restricted) the whole summer, so I guess any tires can grip fairly good with that little power =P . But I didn't slip in the rain too much with them, even braking wasn't a problem when it was pouring down

I ride my bike in any condition EXCEPT ice and snow. Hate the stuff!! Came off my RS not long ago on black ice... never do it again! If you ride in snowy and icey weather, you're just asking for trouble. The hot summer will be approaching shortly... roll on the dry yet dusty days!

I like riding in the rain. The first time I was really scared! I had to drive home from the shop, 4 miles, but it was fine as long as you go slow. It felt nice being all wet, the only thing I dont like is how the damn rain hurts your face, it feels like hundreds of little pelets being shot at your face, oh yeah and water spots on my bike, i hate those. I dont go out for fun riding in the rain just because of the water spots. More wax..............:p
