View Full Version : Took the plunge

Well, I took the plunge and ordered a Shiv 900 today in Green.

Haven't bothered with a road test, never have with any bike I’ve purchased.

What would be the first best addition/mod deemed necessary?

Cheers for any answers

It depends what you plan on using the Green Monster for!! I have added Oxford Heated Grips, Atlas Throttle Lock, A New Zumo 396LMT-S Navigator, A Puig Universal Touring Screen for the winter months, and T-Rex Body Cladding to protect mine if it goes over. Since I do not care for the side bag options for the shiver today I went with a Waterproof Dryspec Bag for now. Once I can find a Tail Rack it will move further back. Best Wishes Ride Well!!

Yep, heated grips look a good bet, especially in the NorthWest of the UK as I am. Probably go with Koso Apollo as I like the integral controls. Bit steep at 80ish UK pounds, but hey...

Screen also a good idea but for me a flyscreen not a tourer, any recommendations?

and a tailtidy, although the standard is better than most others with their ugly tails, Honda, KTM etc.

I got this last november as a 60th bithday present for myself.
I am not a fan of high screens so this small one will do just fine on longer rides.
Akra slip-ons not otherwise necessary but they are 6 kg lighter than the std exhaust.
For me the hand shields provide enough protection not to need heated grips.
This also came with a centerstand (a 600km importer demo bike)
I have a 1000km service coming soon and I will add a usb-port and Multimedia platform on the bike.

Nice screen, is that the Puig? If it is I’ve been looking at that one. Hand guards may be an option, just never really considered them.

Pipes at a later date I think... and possibly the centre stand.

And as of today I’ve paid the balance and collect on the 20th.

As with any Shiver, the exhaust.

With the right cans you can remove a significant amount of weight from high and rear. Side benefit is that the bike stops sounding like an 10yr old with asthma in the middle of soccer practice.

Flyscreen is official Aprilia accessory
