Hi! ive owned a 12 tv4 and a 16 tv4f before.
But I just got my first ape track dedicated bike.

Its a 11 or 12 rsv4 factory.
But with a R motor by the looks of the casings and valve covers. The factory airbox with variable stacks and showers are still there. And the ecu.

But I want to find out what engine is inside the frame. Can I see what year it was made?

And are there any big changes between the 09-11 And 12-13 motors?

Congrats. It's such a wonderful bike at full tilt on track.

That’s great man! You’ll love it! As far as the engines go the 2013 and up motors got a thicker timing chain which = stronger. the earlier versions (I believe 10-11’s)had a poor oiling system and valve guide issues. I’ve been told many times now if I ever need a new motor for my 2010 Factory to go with a 2013 or newer. Good luck Linusenen!!

I rode a bmw hp4 last season on track. But never got along with it. Always missed my apes.

So I sold it and bought this one.

So now i have the v4 for track and a rsv1000r for nice weather street sundays :)

yes the 2009-2010 and some EARLY 11’s are marked
(V4 xxxxx) so at best that’s an early 2011 engine.

Yep that's correct, here is more info for the OP.

2009 - 10 & early 11 RSV4 engines have serial numbers V4 xxxxx
Late 2011 - 14 engines have serial numbers V4-A xxxxx
2015+ RR/RF engines have serial numbers V4-E xxxxx

Actually it was the 2011-2012 had the issues......the 09-10 were better built motors (according to AF1) then the problems started in 11 & 12 bikes then Aprilia figured it out for 13. At least thats what I was told when visiting AF1

If AF1 had it posted it's gotta be true then. You by chance know where I could find that info on AF1? If not no biggy.
