Hi guys,ok i'm currently using rs125,and now its time for me to upgrade to rs 250,so i need some info bout this bike.So any advice would be apreciated since im buying a second hand bike 96 version(chesterfield free runner version).Ok some info that i need a lot is:
1.how to clean the power valve,is it easy as rs125?since its v-engine,so it must difficult, please gimme some tech advive.
2.how i want to know is the power valve is working,as for 125 a can heard a click sound at 2.5k rpm.
3.since aprilia stop the production of rs250, so how bout the spare part in the future?as i know rs250 using rgv250,so that means the piston and connecting rod must fit well rs250 is it?
4.what is the top speed for standard rs250?.
5.what is the compression ratio for this bike?
6.how about the feul comsumption?and is this bike are reliable for a long distance journey?

I can only help you with 4 & 6.

4. Top speed is around 135 mp/h or around 215km/h.

6. Fuel consumprion is not to good, it likes to drink quite alot compared to the rs125. I joust to put about 10 a week in the rs125 but now I have to put about 30 instead for the same journey. lol. All well worth it tho :D

The powervalves on the 250 are operated by a servo motor (a bit more sophisticated than the solenoid operation on the 125) Instead of just being open or closed there are three positions, closed, partial-open, fully-open. Partial opening occurs at 5-6000 rpm, full opening around 9000 rpm. The valve itself is a of the third generation type, affecting cylinder timing, exhaust temperature and velocity, and exhaust pulse timing. Each cylinder acually has two valves which operate as a pair. A single valve looks like a cylinder that slides in three vertical sections.
