View Full Version : Is changing the jets this easy?

I'm thinking about going 1 size smaller but before I attempt this, I wanted to make sure I'm doing it right:

All I gotta do is pull the carbs off the cylinder, turn it over, remove the float chamber screws, unscrew the jet and replace the screws, and pop it back on there?

Is there any gasket or anything I need to replace if I do this?
Also, can I keep everything connected to the carbs while I do this?

On the left carb take the slide out and the choke
on the right carb you can take the bowl off with both
slide and choke connected make sure there is no s$%t
on the little rubber gasket when refiting the bowl
You may find that the skrews holding the bowls on
will round off....
allways stuff a rag were the reeds go:)

After you swear and almost strip the phillips head screws retaining the float bowls, you may consider replacing them with allen head screws for future access. FYI

Anyone know what size allen-head bolt is require to replace the screws? I'm also a going a size leaner and figured I'd have the new bolts ready before I tear everything down.

Phillips heads really bite for these things. I change to hex heads or Torx if I have them. Fortunately I've found LOTS of stainless bolts and the such at a local bulk fastner place.

They are 4mm screws if I remember right around 10mm long.
