View Full Version : Reliability?

I'm close to purchasing a 1200 in the next week or 2 after having my Ducati 1198s stolen.

How reliable are the 1200's and how expensive are they to maintain?

Only had mine a few months with 5 k on clock, engine feels nice and under stressed so hopefully with regular oil changes be no issue. I do have a electrical problem with ABS and traction control which has led to the bike going bike to dealer so ensure all working ok. The last thing to be aware off is fuel it ain't economical !! Probably average 35 mpg with a range of 80 miles before reserve but lots of fun getting there [emoji3]

I bought my 1200 DD on the 25th June 2014 and it had 7km on the odo and currently sitting on 21 765km.

The only issue I had was the throttle demand sensor which was on a recall and replaced at about 2000km for free at the dealer.
I ride it almost every day and have done two track days with it and no issues at all with reliability.

I've had mine a year and a half and it has been rock solid. No issues. Seems to be a bullet proof bike. First major service comes in at 12k miles so compared to a Ducati, the Aprilia is built for the long haul.

Bought mine used from a dealer with just under 4K miles on it. Had the swollen gas tank (beware of ethanol contaminated fuel) causing the left tank shroud to crack and fly off. To top it off it looks like the MAP sensor needs to be replaced. The bike is still too fun to ride and really think that after those problems are fixed the bike will run great for a long, long time.

No problems with mine so far touch wood, bought it new just over a year ago! First service cost me around 200 and the second 160 so no more than average for servicing! Fuel probably similar to your Ducati!

I bought a 2011 in 2014 I only have 5000km on it but I haven't been gentile with it by no means and it's a rock and pulls like an avalanche.
