Just did my first DD1200 yesterday :D
after 2 years working on RSV4/TuonoV4 (same ECU), finally got occasion to work over one ot this big twins :D

Used lastes 1338EA7 map as base.

Bike had de-katted Arrow silencers and DNA stage2 filter. Here below the results (did not yet did individual cylinder mapping with 2 wideband lambda's, will do that today. Yesterday i've only used one wideband):

as you can see in the first picture, bike arrived on the dyno with 15w50 Motul V300 oil... it was a lot noisy after some pulls, so we did an oli change on the dyno using fresh ENI 10w60. Way better sounding motor!

Roma is too far for me, i'm in Nice (France) near the italian frontier ! Maybe one day you'll go to my area for some remapping sessions...

Great job!
What can you do with a Caponord 1200?
Maybe it will be worth a trip from sweden to Roma!

Gabro
04-28-2015, 01:42 PM
Yes, i'm tooled for it. I've already did a test re-flash over a Caponord in February, but i'm still searching for a test-bike to finalize the base tuning over my dyno.

it's all the same Marelli 7SM ecu family, not much differences from the RSV4 ecu, even the Traction control mapping is similar. Once done with the Caponord i'll move to the Guzzi Caliafornia 1400 re-flash (basically same ecu too).

It would be interesting to see what gains could be made with standard exhaust and air filter versus this bike.

will do at first occasion!

Now, how to export this to the states??

Gabro
04-30-2015, 02:34 AM
ship-in / ship-out.

here a datalog screenshot from dyno wide open throttle pulls: in yellow RPM and AFR from stock map comparing with the graph in pink were RPM and AFR are from one on my early stage map with ignition advance and throttle openings still not changed, but fueling roughly adjusted, and rised rev limiter. wideband lambda probe fitted in the exhaust Y prior of the Arrow cans.
You can see how lean is the motor with the stock map in the lower rpm range, but fueling is about spot-on above 7500 rpm:

Do you think economy would be improved?

Whats the turn around time?

Gabro
05-03-2015, 09:17 AM
it mostly depends on trave time... usually no more than 10 working days round trip

Have you the lambdas sensors diactivated?
Also, about throtle opening, you can set it for more direct responce?

What software are you using to access & edit ecu tables? Rexxer?... Guzzi Diag?
Can you tune a2013 shiver 750?
Will the 3 maps still work?
i would really like to decat my bike & have the air fuel ratio tunes correctly... Might even keep stock exhaust after decat.... If the bike were tuned to eliminate lean condition, it would run cooler, right?

i've yet to find the "lambda off" for the 1200. anyway, the only closed-loop zone i've not been able to remove to now is the 4500/part throttle... it's were you feel the motor bounching up and down when cruising in 5 and 6 gear.
the fueling here get cured by unplugging the lambda probe, but it's not a solution. Bike do not shows alarm on the dash, but it show in diagnostic mode and will start to enrich everywere is a short time.

surely, but i would not do that. trottle in S mode is already very abrupt.

Anyway i've made the buttlerflyes open more, that's why i've got big gains at low rpm's. Stock map allow 100% throttle only above 7000rpm, and looking at the the graph you can clearly see why: that dip in torque @7000 arised only after i've made the throttle open sooner, that means Aprilia limited openings in order to not show that dip.

i use a tool to reflash, and Tunerpro with my own built definitions (.XDF's) to edit maps.
yes, i do 750's too. and lambda off here is working :D
yes, the 3 maps will continue working.

I need you down here in Australia. I'm wanting to turbo my DD1200 and no one is really up with tuning these down here.

Did you unpluged them or they gone by software?

Gabro
07-08-2015, 02:17 PM
no, simply unplug do not work, alarm is silent, not shown by the dash, but is present in the ecu and the bike do not run nice after some mile.

did it with de-activation in the sw.

Gabro, whats the feedback from the tuning has the economy increased?
Whats the price to get your latest tuning map uploaded if the ECU is posted to you?

Cheers

Hi, Gabro, do you have any long-term experience with the 10w60 oil? Or have anybody else long-term experience with this oil?
I will try to use it now....

Very interested in this approach as a plan B to getting a new map uploaded in my 1200. Has anyone here in the US shipped their ECU over there by chance? And if yes what is the process for getting it in/out/back with export compliance and all of that?

Thanks

did an other 1200 on the dyno yesterday, flashed my std modded file i sell via post, done before/after pulls.
bike had de-katted Arrow pipes and open-lid airbox. Nice results for a simple reflash :D

Gabro, when you map the RR/RF bikes. So you use the stock lambda sensors to adjust each bank, or do u just do one in the tailpipe?

Is this the case for the V4 with race ECU also? Silent alarm?

Hi Gabro,
Sent you an email yesterday. Your submit forms on your website didn't seem to work using a Mac.
More that horsepower gains, I'm interested in improved throttle response and general "ride-ability". I have a Fat Duc now and it has made a huge improvement but the power curve/throttle response still feels a little bit funky. I'm used to my KTM 990 SMR which has a perfect map via TuneECU. Hoping you can help me.
Cheers,
-John

Ciao John! yes, i've got your email... website does not give feedback but contact form went throught.

Presently i did not yet developed a map for completely stock DD1200... only open exhaust/airbox map. Is your bke std or tuned?

It's still stock as I've only had it a week. :p:
I guess I will wait until I find some exhaust.
