do any of you guys know if the fuel cap has a breather or not? I know the tank has its own breather hoses

The fuel cap has no breather.You can't legally have any kind of breather anymore that vents raw gas fumes to the atmosphere .

thanks, but I guess the breather that runs to the belly does exactly that anyway? it has to happen somewhere to prevent a tank vacuum?

The tank breather goes to the valve then the carbon can and then back to the rear cylinder where any vapours are to be burnt same as a cars it's supposed to be a closed system.First thing I did to my bike was remove it to the valve and block the hose to the rear cyl. You can hear the tank vent now thru the valve it sounds like a fog horn in the distance.

I think the carbon filter is just for you guys, UK bikes vent hoses go direct to atmos. no valves, nothing. probably why we are all bonkers, been breathing the stuff for years (we don't have fume reclaim on the gas pumps either)
