View Full Version : ingition switch screws

I've tried the search and came up with nothing. I know I have seen it before. I am replacing a broken air duck and can't get the new one on due to the ignition switch being in the way. There is one screw that is made as an anti tamper device. How is that removed? I really want to put this thing back together and ride tomorrow.

The parts diagram refers to this screw as a "shear rivet". Its a pain in the ass is what it is.

Any help is very appreciated.

Well, I got the little bastard. Used a Dremel with cutoff discs to slot the screw and a screw driver turned with a wrench to get it loose. Was tight.

Any body got any alternate methods, please post.

I always drill the head off.

I always drill the head off.

That was my next move if the slot didn't work. Do the dealers have a special tool to extract those little bastards?

Just a drill or, as you found, a Dremel.

I just did mine...drilled hole and used a "easy out" and a ratcheting Tap handle , worked good.
It wasn't too bad to drill hardness wise.
