View Full Version : Is it supposed to be like that (rear suspension linkage and dog-bone question)?

Hi,

when removing the rear wheel I've noticed that the clearance between 2 suspension linkage plates and the dog-bone is uneven, with plenty of clearance on the right side and no clearance on the left side, as shown by the picture.

Is it supposed to be like that?

I believe so, Yes. I've had several different brands that have been like that.

I had to go back to my video to see for myself, but it looks normal. Funny, I didn't even notice that when I was lubricating those bearings. Good catch!

Yes, there is a bit of lateral 'float' in the linkages.
It's perfectly normal, however, some choose to shim the free play out with nylon/teflon spacers.
(They also help keep the crap out.)

Very. The needle bearings quite often came from the factory with too little grease, and have a habit of seizing up.

You should look at the maintenance schedule in the owners manual. It's all in there.
