I saw a post recently by someone saying their lid would not fit in the pannier. I thought so too when I first got my bike, so for anyone who is not aware it fits on its side

Also fits upsidedown at an angle without issue (large shoei), just have to unclip my sena Bluetooth unit from it's mount. Guess you just have to have grown up playing tetris?

I had couple loose cable ties inside and put lid in on its side and because lid sat on cable tie,(bout qtr inch), the little bastard screw head inside pannier scratched my lid. Now put tape over screw head.

My helme has been damaged by the screw at the top too. Bit more than a scratch. Still, it needs replacing some time anyway.

I have to say there is zero chance of me putting any helmet I own in the pannier like that. Looks like it would scratch just from sitting on the plastic, especially if you have a really glossy helmet.

I've never stored any helmet worth owning without a helmet bag.
