Good morning,
The gas cap on my 2007 started leaking when I'm under acceleration. As you pick up speed you can see the gas seeping and moving forward (opposite of the direction of travel :-) ).
I looked at the parts fiche and used the search function (I swear), but couldn'y find the info I wanted.
My question: can I get the rubber pieces that seal the gas cap itself, you know the round rubber seal? P/N?
Thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to answer.
Bets regards,
Gaucho

AP8104803 is the gasket available from Aprilia.

Check this thread out on how to shim the rubber ring on the gas cap to make better contact and stop the leak.

Most people just make a washer out of plastic / rubber or whatever (it doesnt need to be fuel proof as you place it between the existing seal and the tank cap - therefore it doesnt come into contact with fuel)

Some great threads on here that cover it (which i followed).......I made mine out of plastic from a curry takeaway tub ! - advantage of this is that you dont have to dismantle the fuel cap and risk breaking anything.

Make one of these:

Put it in here:

mine is leaking also. seems to be a common problem. so, replacing the ^rubber gasket^ takes care of the problem? I have read here that the O-ring under the gasket also works, less $. in the long run witch is going to be the best fix?......cavman

Replacing AP8104803 that goes between the tank and the base of the filler neck will not fix it. You need to shim the gasket in the cap itself with an o-ring, or other suitable material. Some people on the forum have also made 3mm thick gaskets for the cap instead of shimming the existing one.

anybody know the size of the O-ring? diameter and thickness. a forum member said he would send me one, but is in the middle of a move and I would like to take care of the problem sooner than later. thanks, cavman

I just went to Ace hardware and grabbed a 1 7/8th" o-ring. Don't know the thickness but it wasn't too thick. I was actually concerned it wouldn't do the trick but it hasn't leaked since. I'll take a pic of it after I get home if that will help

I had the same problem. I read the threads on how to fix it. Took it apart to give it a look see. Put it back together without changing anything and it hasn't leaked since. Too bad that doesn't work on everything.

I have the O-rings to fix leaking fuel cap. PM me and I'll send you one for $1.00. That will cover the cost ($0.47), the stamp, and envelope.
