Anyone know if you can purchase just the mounting plate for the topbox? I already have a Shad topbox with receiver plate and its larger than the factory one, would like to use it on this bike. This is a screen shot from the install instructions for the factory topbox.

I'd made my own mounting plate with some 3mm aluminium sheet & connected a Givi universal mounting plate to it, however it still had a fair bit of flex in it. Yesterday my Hepco & Becker rear rack arrived, to which my Givi plate mounts perfectly & because it's much thicker mild steel removes the flex entirely. Didn't really need the whole rack for now, but it was far more readily available than other options & I've now got a greater choice of luggage in the future :)

The plate I originally made is in I think 1.5mm steel. I tried one made from 3mm checker plate and it flexed more then the steel one so I have reverted back to steel. Might stil get a proper manufactureed plate one day though.

OK I am taking the plunge and getting a Givi plate. At least you dont have to get a plate and a top box mount for this bike.

I just fitted the Givi plate last week, and i have to say, it is a really good piece of kit. The Steel bracket is really strong, the Alloy Plate is also good quality grade Alloy in 6mm thickness. I work in a fabrication company and thought of making my own, but the truth is, I dont have the time, and to be honest, the labour costs involved to manufacture something of this quality makes the selling price from Givi quite attractive. I tested it with a 46lt Trekker box, fully laden with around 12kg total weight, and it never vibrated the whole way on a 400ml trip.
Sometimes its worth spending the cash guys
