Hey guys, new to the forum. Have been reading a few build threads in here and there are some inspirational ones for sure.

Have got myself a wee rs50 in a trade this week. I do a fair bit with older two strokes but have been after a newer fifty-shifty for a while.

So here is the bike, bit rough lol its a 99 iirc with 10.5k on it (is odo in km or mph?)

Good points -

Its all there
Has an aftermarket exhaust that probably cost money/i could sell. (yes i am familiar with "endy", but still its better than nothing)
Tyres are real good
Electrics all work
Came with tax book

Bad Points -

It's seized.
Horrible paint job, both in colour combo and very poor quality, just sprayed over panel damage, can see through the paint where all the stickers were etc.
The rear seat cowl is just the actual seat sprayed with rattle can!! lol
Kinda loosely assembled but im fully stripping anyway
Has one key for ignition and one for fuelcap/seat. Which half of is broken off in the fuel cap. Lame.

So the main thing is its all there, i plan to fully disassemble it, and nut and bolt resto it. refurbish every component on it pretty much and give it a new paint job and rebuilt engine.

For some reason the paint looks semi-legit in photos. Believe me, its so disgusting.

Off the trailer -

Into the shed -

Came to me partially disassembled as you see it here. There are a few random plastic inserts/infill panels with it that im not sure where they go i will have to ask for some advice on that.

A pic from previous owner of it assembled lol

Welcome to the forum!! Looks like you have nice project on your hands there, makes life so much easier with everything being there. Parts for these are very cheap, so a mint bike is easy to create! Plenty of tuning parts (big bores/porting kits, tuned pipes, bigger carbs and so on).

Portadown mate, zip sp is nice

I have a Honda h100a, two puch maxis and this rs. At the minute anyway lol, and a Honda hornet too. We should meet up for a spin sometime you have an Aprilia too then?

A 95cc zip would be mega, have had a few scooters myself. Its fun to stick a bbk on and blast around on them but I would prefer to do a big serious build on somethin with gears though, scooters never have good top end even when fully built.

Sr125 is nice too quite fast as well I have ridden a couple

Are you on any of the uk scooter sites there are some awesome builds around

Thanks man have been checkin parts out, is there much interchangeable with the rs125 a guy is breaking one locally, has offered me a good price on some bits like wheels, forks, and calipers

won a standard expansion chamber on ebay for a tenner there as well. not sure if ill like how the endy performs, although i kinda like the twin cans. plus i always like to have the stock parts for a bike as well as tuning parts.

Get the front end off the RS125! Oh, and sort out a decent pipe, an arrow, gianelli or leoVince are all brilliant pipes!

Yeah they are decent pipes alright have used all those brands before. Do you need rs125 wheels to fit that front end? Is it a straight fit? How about calipers? And any of the plastics? Thanks for your advice dan

The nose cone, side panels and tank fit (pretty sure of this). You will need rs125 front wheel and there are threads on rs125 front end swaps, search around, if you have no luck then ill try find some for you. Happy to help mate.

The tank don't fit dan tried and both side panels do fit but the ends off each side faring don't if look at these to you should see why

I see Zav, so the side panels would fit if you swaped the ends for the rs50 items.

Zav

Yeah they are same size and same fittings as I have been saying for nearly 3 months and roads age has also said there the same as you can fit rs250 fairings but the nose cone needs making thinner as its made wider to fit the rs250 because rs250 tyga race/road fairings do fit and look very sexys

I really wish I could get a banana swingarm for my little ape. The closest is the rs4 swingarm!

Zav

There's one for ya Matt

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aprilia-RS4-125-10-11-12-Swingarm-Swing-Arm-/321073084026?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item4ac172767a

Why not just customise the Swingarm you have to look like one using sheet metal

Thanks lads so the seat cowl, y panels, nose cone and side fairings are all okay then

Zav

After looking around zav with my spares the side panels are 100% different! I dint realise but i have a full set of RS50 ones with my 125 spares! So i was comparing 50 ones to the 50!:( before i got my 125 i would say yes, yes get an rs 125 front end, but tbh after feeling the weight of the front end i wouldnt, i think it would slow you down, but i think it would stick to the corners much better! But i think would slow it down alot! Seriously its much heavier!

Zav

The rs125 forks prob weigh same as the rx50 and the new shape rs50 forks and I must say the am6 forks are a lot lighter but the rx50 forks and yokes do fit but it makes it very front tall as I did try it Ahaa

If you want to reduce weight tho get some rg125 front forks as I have 3 sets and they are loud better and weigh less than the am6 forks

Brad so how come the rs250 fairings fit the rs50 when made skinner and the rs125 fairings fit the rs250 I'm not saying your wrong but I'm sure they just a tad longer

Cool I dunno what plastics he has. I didn't realise the headlight was better. Is the nose fairing different? He offered me the wheels calipers and forks for a decent price so I was going to lift the lot. Any point getting the back caliper?

Have just arranged to lift another complete rs50 as well for parts.

Honda nf4 rs125s use 35mm forks , racing quality bolt in for rs50...

Fiftyracer
08-20-2013, 10:11 PM
Not about to find or be able to afford a set of those any time soon. Need to keep it realistic in my build thread lol

I'm surprised the 125 rs doesn't use the same diameter

RS_Roadrage

No the rs 125 plastics ARE different but not by huge amounts, i took the advice and fitting the rs 125 headlight, i have two infact and tried
both, anyway lets say the rs 50 headlight is going back in'!! High beam is great, low beam is absolutely pants! I had to adjust it so that the high beam is directed lower down on the road as the low beam is shocking, not sure if its the 50 lack of power? Anyway it still blinds people so im changing it! But the high beam redirected is pretty good though!

Fiftyracer

Maybe I'll just try a better bulb in my 50 headlight. So what plastics do you think I can use from a 125 that will fit properly? I know the tank cover won't and the side fairings need the wee ends changed I thought the rest was okay

RS_Roadrage
08-21-2013, 08:33 AM
Why not just leave the rs50 side panels on?

Fiftyracer
08-21-2013, 03:13 PM
Because the 125 ones I have been offered are in better condition and cheap, From what I've read there is no difference apart from changing the wee ends so if they are the same what's the difference in changing em
