Hey all
Looking to get myself a DD 1200, probably this week.
Ticking the i and crossing the Ts I have one question;
For anyone in the Brisbane area, where do you get your bike serviced, and what are the costs you are seeing?
I'd probably be going to Springwood for the service, unless there's other options that don't void warranty.
Also, what is the warranty period on a new one? 2 years?

Cheers
Paul

Hey Paul, I've got 12k on mine now. 1 thing is the service needs to be done by a tech that has the Aprilia "navigator" system. At your first service (1k K's) there is more power available. The bike has a few steps during the run in period , a self managed rev limit till 400 k's then the fore mentioned power increase at the first service. Then if you don't have the navigator plugged in each service there after you must endure the service spanner on your instrument's display. But you don't see it when you are " ON IT"

thanks for that. I've been quoted $305 for the first 1000 km service; sound about right?

Thanks Mr Dorso.
so now I am confused...reading the book that came with the bike the service intervals are 20,000 kms....but you didyours at 10k? was that more a time thing or just piece of mind?

20k? I might need to re read my manual but I thought it was 1k, 10k, 20k, 30k... And the service wrench came on just before 10k so pretty sure it is every 10k, I also change oil every 5k for piece of mind and use a high flow oil filter, more piece of mind!

I agree with Mr. Dorso. If you do stuff like changing the oil yourself, do it at least every 7500km and put a HiFlo filter on (HF565. change it at the same time). They only cost about $20 and it works out pretty cheap if you do about 500kms a week. (i.e one filter every 15 weeks). If you ride like me you will have used $900 of petrol in the same period anyway.
I do all my own servicing in WA because the two local dealers haven't got a clue and one of them refuses to do trade-ins (the direct result of that is other manufacturers offer peanuts on trades because they can't offload second hand Aprilias). The service code to get rid of the 'service spanner' is 98789 (on the 2011 in any event but might be the same on later models.
Something else you can do yourself is to change the revs at which the rev limiter kicks in. Don't set it too high because you won't get any benefit if you exceed the most effective useable power output.
