I heard from a friend and good source ;) that a new map is out for the 1200. supposed to help with power, better fuel economy and smooth- out throttle response throughout the power band. :peace:

I got the same information from my dealer.

The new mappings fits with control units with the number "hwi100...".

AND: as my dealer told me: the mapping is NOT downward compatible.

So if you put on the new mapping and not realy happy with that (for whatever reason) youīre *** in the ass ;)

I spoke to the Aprilia mech at Strath yesterday, he told me that Rexar (i think that's right) are sending a person out to Australia to teach him to write maps to the DD12. Gunna cost about $400 to have a map written to your bike. Recons it will sort out all the fueling issues that we have. Offered up my scoota for him to practice on. Seems they have broken into the Navigator system that prilla use !!!!! YAAAY

Yep, i guess thats what he was talkin about ! One would still need the Navigator system to write and load a map tho i spose. i cant see any other way you could write straight to the bike,.... or am i missing some thing.? what rexxer have listed is for a dd, doesn't say 750 or 1200 and only for slip on's. Nothing for air cleaner's and other mods that may affect (enhance) performance. Thanks for the link tho Quza.

I just update the New Map (with stock exhuast)

WOWW... Can can now ride the Bike with Gear 1 at slow speed.
I do not have to play with the Clutch any more at Gear 1.

Looks like I do not have to buy the FatDuc now.

Has any one got the map identifying number? Just to ensure the correct map is installed.

As mentioned the update is only on the HW100 ECUs.

Map codes are...

1338EA-7 for European machines
1338EB-7 for European 78KW machines
1338EC-9 for US machines

But, just to make it hard for you, the mapping ID is no longer shown on devices, it will just say 00000000 therefore Aprilia recommend writing the code onto the body of the unit itself to aid in future servicing.

How do we know if we have the HW100 ECU?

Should be on the ECU ...

Yes it's on the ECU sticker, I'll grab a picture if you want to see where...

Has anyone tried this map with a DNA air filter and Arrow pipes? From the thread it seems that they have leaned out the map, worried that the new map may be too lean with the Arrow pipe/DNA combo. Your thoughts appreciated.

I was advised by my dealer not to install new map with arrow pipes and DNA filter.

Yesterday i try new map. Engine seems smoother, in first section of throttle grip slower onset. Fuel consumption get down approx 1liter/100km (7,4l/100km real - 5,4l/100km onboard lcd)
But sometime i feel some falter about 4500rpm, maybe cold temperature around is reason...

maravy,

Do you have any modifications to your bike or is it stock?

maravy

Yes, i have a stock 2012 dorso without any modifications.

That would be great if you could. Thought e ecu would be under the seat, but obviously not.

Itīs under the fuel tank on the (right?) side. For a sketch see the ownerīs manual on page 20 (itīs page 20 in the german om for the year 2012).

New mapping:
I did 38MPG last sunday, I guess you could get it up to 45 if you really tried. But more importantly: When I rode home that day I took the Autobahn for 100km (~60miles). dashboard said: avg. speed: 120km/h (~75mph), max. speed: 245km/h (152mph). Fueling: 8.6L/100km (27MPG)!
I am impressed.

Quza: after map update my engine not run continuosly. especially cold, around 4500rpm and little throttle. Have you some problem?

Quza
04-19-2013, 08:19 PM
my idle rpm have increased to ~1600rpm,so no problems with a cold engine. whats new is the reduced engine braking below 3000rpm.

Quza, Have you the Arrows and DNA filter? And can the map be reversed or not? I am nearly due for service and am contemplating the new map, but if it's no good for my mods I wont bother. Fuel/mileage ratio is a marked improvement, have you checked their work to ensure they didn't put the new Caponord fuel tank on???? ;)

lanter
04-19-2013, 10:34 PM
From what I'm told the new map is not reversible and is intended for stock bike. Brinks, I have the same set up as you and was informed by dealer the arrow race map is best. Although I'd try new map if it was reversible.

Screw it Lanter, nothing like the smell of expelled fuel. Wont make me think about it differently, still great fun, never take it out of sport anyhoo. ;)

hm, maybe is my problem in long engine warming. how much takes warming from cold engine to three pieces on LCD?
I must ride about 10km to operating temperature. yesterday, in rainy day i have only one piece on temp meter after one hour riding...

I have the DNA Stage2 Airbox Cover and LeoVince pipes without a CAT, it runs just fine imho.

Did they say anything about reversing it Quza? Or once done forever it stays?

Quza
04-21-2013, 11:32 AM
I haven't heard anything about that, but I guess it's not possible.
Still, I'd go for it, the bike still sounds the same above 3k rpm

Thatīs what my dealer told me. If the new Map is on the dorso, itīs on and canīt be changed back to the "old" map.

Dyno read would be good. Mine is going in shortly, I will get a dyno done when I get back to civilisation in the 1st week of May. Any dyno's out there fellas? With the different maps it would be good to see the difference.

Quza
04-24-2013, 04:47 AM
Haven't dyno'd it, but the topspeed still is the same. Did 244km/h with the GoPro trying to rip my head off, if I sat more aerodynamic she probably would do 250km/h like she did before :)

today i try map for arrow exhaust - is much better than normal!! engine run absolutelly continuously.

Maravy I have the arrow map as well and I have no complaints at all!

Brinks_2
04-24-2013, 09:17 PM
Don't get me wrong, the arrow map is good, agreed. It's just the overfuelling smell i get sometimes, maybe from the area i live in, warm dry climate may have something to do with it. Just checking options. :) Just a read only dyno to see whats happening inside the beast and compare maps and mods against others.

lanter
04-24-2013, 11:02 PM
Hey Brinks! How many miles on your beast? I did get a lil gas smell once and a while too. When I had mine in for the swollen tank issue I had the plugs changed and DNA cleaned. All smell gone and runs better then ever. I have about 6300k on mine and since the tank was off, I figured why not change the plugs. Mechanic said the plugs did look like they needed to be changed and the DNA filter had way to much oil on it from the factory.

Brinks_2
04-25-2013, 12:57 AM
7000km, due to go in so I'll change the plugs. I'll probably go with the iridium plugs and see if I get a better burn. I was looking at the header pipe and the burn mark looks like it's expelling unburnt fuel, hence looking at the iridiums to see if the burn gets better. The DNA I'll clean and re-oil myself as some shop spanner will over oil it, as they did on my Falco. What plugs did you go for?

Hi Lanter, I have asked my dealer to load the full race arrows map into my ECU and he told me that the map can be downloaded only after providing a unique code for arrows exhausts. I have open SC project pipes and my air/fuel mix is obviously off. Unfortunately i dont have the code available. Anybody knows what the code for arrow race map is? Cannot find it anywhere. Thanks, Rob

Late to the forum. I got my DD1200 a month ago. The fuelling at bottom and top end is pretty crap. There are no Aprilia Dealers in my city. Any recommendations for getting this new tune?
