I just started my 550 to heat it up while it's standing in garage for winter period. I twisted throtle few times and I saw the flames. Aprilia SXV 550 flames - YouTube

Nothing is normal about these animals...you can also do more harm than good by reving up your ape to watch the flames in the garage

Sam is right, free reving an engine is more stress and wear than riding the piss out of it for an hour. The engine will free rev much faster than a loaded engine and things strech much faster then have to contract just as fast and that does not always happen.

Free revving an engine to make a 30 second video isn't going to kill it.

(Just make sure its up to temp and you dont turn it off immediately after goosing the throttle)

Not sure if its normal.

I thought it looked cool.
