View Full Version : RS125R 1999 Model With 2005 Poggiali Panels (THE WHITE ONE) PROJECT

05-12-2011, 04:32 PM
Haya guys thought i might aswell let u guys see my new toy which i got the other day for 900 its a RS125R 1999 Model with the White Poggiali Panels from the 2005 model it has the odd scratch here and there but relativetly good for its age and its a RS aswell and to be fair not many people will take the time to look after a 125 Unless ur a bike freak like many of us :D

http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/230938_2049078351107_1368923984_32387569_3927913_n .jpg

Even tho i bought it for 900 which i think is a good price for a rs and for the panels it has on it, it does have its bad points...

Needs full ignition set
Packing in the Exhaust
Stand fixing (Fixed already took 30 mins and a fuck load of drilling :D)
New Dials (Previous owner is giving me the new set and a free pair of bar ends (New))

But the bike has its good points also...

Its a Rs125 R with the Poggial white panels and they ant in bad condition really :D
full tyga performance exhaust
Starts off the button with choke on first time
Never been crashed (cant find a hint of crash damage only scratchs of where it dropped when the stand broke.)
Its Mine :D
12 months MOT & Tax + History and i know where it was bought from in plymouth my town.

On this bike tbh there any much to do fixing wise so any spare money will be going towards paddock stands, 34mm carb and extra goodies like the Aprilia exhaust hanger and heel plates which the bike already had when i bought it :D

This is where im working on the bike to :D my underground storage room (it took me 30 mins to get the bike down the steps through a narrow passage way but atleast no fucker can nick the bike now since tbh ever since i put pics on fb alot of people have commented on it and its gained alot of interest so im very worried about when its on road im gonna hide it alot i think

http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/226710_2049081351182_1368923984_32387580_4500758_n .jpg
This is the worst scratch on the bike im either gonna get it touched up or replace the panel eventually im not sure yett tbh what do u guys think also guys what do u think i should do with the bike ive got 4 months till im 17 so ive got the time and i can get the money :D

05-12-2011, 04:59 PM
looks nice, that scratch doesnt look to bad also.

05-12-2011, 05:02 PM
cheers bud what ya think then worth the 900?

05-14-2011, 08:30 AM
Looks good to me mate, id defo have snatched that for 900. Whats the millege on it? What sort of work has it had done in the past? Any thing been changed recently on the bike?

05-14-2011, 10:03 AM
Well just looking at the bike and from the previous owner telling me its had

Tyga Exhaust
Carbon yoke cover
Carbon levers
Aprilia RS Exhaust hanger and heel plates
Another thing is that he has had it over Oiling since hes had it like cm in front of the mark on the oil pump which i suppose is a good sign

Miles is 24310 KM but the dials have been broken since he had it and he has had it around 3-4 months and he drives it everyday to work and back so i guessing around 26k alteast now

Its had New rear tyre
New rear pads
also it was the Black/Orange rs but the place they bought it from changed the panels to the Poggial panels which is a bonus, and its never been crashed ther is not even the slightest sign of a crash no scratches on the pegs, frame, rear or front only marks front where it was dropped when the stand broke which is now fixxed also the front headlight is perfectly straight which is a good indication of crash damage :D

Aprilia af1

Very nice rs 125. I like the poggiali colour scheme ones. Don't seem to be too many around.
Good luck with whatever you're going to do to it.

05-15-2011, 10:16 AM
Im just tidying it up AF1 and fixing a few things also Ive fixxed the stand

and ive also gotta repack the exhaust ive took the old crap out now and cleaned the inners a bit ready for new packing
http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/228609_2061497581580_1368923984_32398549_645166_n. jpg

I still gotta get the front off and replace the dials aswell but waiting on the previous owner to pass them to me.

Im thinking of getting my calipers painted but what colour "Red", "Gold" or "Black"

http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/228267_2061497941589_1368923984_32398551_4981242_n .jpg

Hay guys i want ur input on this bike since im unsure what way to go about it as in adding extras like carbon and tail tidys

Theres a nice MKT Tail Tidy on Ebay for A rs125 which i like its like 100 but it is really lush
I can get a 34mm carb for 80 (But does it fit the stock manifold?)
I really do want crash bobbins but is it worth it?

Would can i do to make my bike stand out in the crowd even more than it already does i dont wanna go OTT because to be onest its a smart bike already maybe i could replace the side panel that is damaged there like 100 on ebay new

05-16-2011, 04:55 PM
Rs125 forum.

05-16-2011, 05:53 PM
Excuse me ?

Hang on one sec while i correct u...

The Rs125 forum Is 2009 USA Only and also if u have a look at many of the project threads they are not all about rs50s yes the majority are but not all if there was really a problem with me posting here if would have been moved by now and also im sure patrick or AF1 would have also commented the same thing as u did so.

Since no-one other that ur blunt comment has done i dont see the problem thanks :D

Also if u wanna be like this, what the hell is ur CPI Project doing in this section then?

05-17-2011, 01:39 PM
tbh who gives a shit if this should be posted on the 125 fourm. If he wanted it there, he woulda put it there.

Any way, keep up the pics. Would be nice to see it all finished and cleaned up!

05-17-2011, 03:24 PM
Cheers bud nice to see some interest :D

Plans for the near future is
Pack and re-rivit the end can and fit it
adjust the chain
buy and fit the new lock set
Buy and fit a new speedo drive (anyone got a spare)
Remove and fit new dials
charge the battery

then its polish time im using auto sol on the frame but im unsure what to use on the panels i was thinking AutoGlym Plastic conditioner?

05-17-2011, 04:18 PM
Ok then i didn't ask for a n argument i just thought you might get more information and help in the rs125 form thats all i meant, I wasn't trying to be cheeky or anything , sorry mate. The cpi has the moto minirelli am6 engine. Anyway keep uploading the pics i want to see more if this. :)

05-17-2011, 07:05 PM
Sorry it just it came across that way and will do bud might do some more work tomoz not sure yett tbh all it is now is money so i can buy the new parts everything is prepped and ready just need new parts to fit always a pain in the ass when ur waiting on money :/

05-19-2011, 05:54 PM
Looks like the other set of dials are coming saturday guys but tbh i never thought of it but any chance anyone would know why my LED dial on my rs125 only reads the number 15 or 16 and nothing else its broken as far as i know just wondering if its a common problem but tbh its a 1999 bike wear and tear i suppose

05-20-2011, 06:05 AM
Better post it in the RS125 forum, there are other UK members in there also, no clue why it says USA oonly, as they removed the European RS125 forum wich was way more crouded, and they kept the USA forum... maybe they wanted to merge the 2 but cant or forgot to remove the USA only part in the tittle.

If everyone starts posting there RS125 stuff in here we soon wont have a RS50 Forum anymore, as it gets filled up with 125cc stuff than.

05-20-2011, 09:10 AM
Yeah but this guy had a rs50 here before, so why not help him out? Hes asking us about it all becuase this fourm has helped him out before. I see no problem with him being here.

Im actually quite keen to see this all turn out good :]

05-20-2011, 03:47 PM
The main reason i have posted in this forum is that tbh ive talked and shared all my stuff with u guys before and id really like to show u the next bike project

05-20-2011, 04:59 PM
Im ok with you posting pictures of your new bike, but really dont think you should start a technical thread here on it for the reason i posted above + the people in the 125 forum are able to help you a lot more than we can here.

05-20-2011, 05:04 PM
ok :/

05-21-2011, 06:01 PM
RS125's are rare here, been so long since ive worked on one, i would have to look up almost everything your asking dude while in the RS125 forum they can give you that awnser right away.

Fine to put up some pics, but it is the RS50 forum... i ask whats up with the RS125 forum and why its USA only, but i think its just a left over from wen they merged the RS125
(rest of the world) with the RS125 (usa only forum)

05-21-2011, 06:37 PM
Ok bud well ill move over to the Rs 125 forum bud ill be back now and then ok :D Speak soon :D

05-22-2011, 04:31 AM
You still got the RX50 to complete, and a RS50 to complete

05-22-2011, 05:03 AM
The rx50 is still doing my head in as its struggles to reach 50 when the bike has a full arrow and 19.5 carb its really annoying ive got over everything and i cant find what is wrong.

Patrick could u list some things to check so i can go over it all and take pictures ect ect to see what u think i really need help to identifie whats wrong :/

05-22-2011, 07:30 AM
I do in your project thread of your RX50

05-25-2011, 05:30 AM

Your not the only one in this fourm patrick... Ive worked with couple mates with their rs125's. So whats to say i could give him a hand?

05-25-2011, 06:15 AM
u have a point ryan tbh, and btw there no more pics atm cause i havnt done anything too busy working on the rx atm and doing various revision all tho thats all done now for a week how ever ive gotta create my portfolio for my interview for my mechanics course at colour next wednesday so ill be doing that as well ermm i may fit the new dials over the weekend on the rs125 we will see how it goes :D

05-27-2011, 05:55 AM
Ahh very nice, i hope your mechanics course goes well! Couple of my mates did that down my way. You may even like the idea of buying rs50s/rs125's that have problems and taking them to college to work on. I know afew people that have done that as well :]

05-27-2011, 10:52 AM
yh i would like to do that once im in there ill talk to them about bringing my Rs50 in which is literally in seperate parts even the frame is split

05-27-2011, 01:15 PM
Rian, Point is this is not the 125 section mate, so it does not belong here, if we let one person do it, than others are gonna do it also and soon half the RS50 forum will be full with 125cc stuff.

05-28-2011, 07:33 AM
My names ryan.

05-28-2011, 04:20 PM
We dont use the Y in dutch language, so thats why i spelled it wrong Ryan, sorry :)

07-27-2012, 12:40 PM
Any more updates on this yet? :)

07-27-2012, 01:05 PM

Y is that Patrick?

Is the a Y on the Dutch keyboard?

That was always the fun part when I traveled in Europe. So you find an internet cafe and of course they charge by the minute, can be expensive. Then you can't find the @ key and many other keys are difficult to find. Can be frustrating watching the seconds tick away!! lol

Keyboards here are US International layout, same as the ones you got mate.

We dont have the Y in our alphabet/words, Y is usualy "ij" here wich is seen as a single letter, hard thing is that "ij" and "ei" sound exactly the same and the woird "ijs" and "eis"sound exactly the same but are 2 completly difrent things, ijs = ice and eis = demand, but thats enough off topic :p:

Don't know what happened to Killdog, he just "disapeared", hope hese allright though, maybe someone on here knows him irl?

08-17-2012, 07:12 PM
Haa hay guys thanks for the caring thought patrick but dont worrie im perfectly fine, infact ive completed my level 1 car mechanics, restored my GSXR 400 which is awesome btw

(Until it dropped a valve LMFAO, dw only 190 later and the rest of tomorrow till its back on road again)

Ive still got the RS125 and i dont need the money really so its probally gonna stay so my GF can use it however its definatly gonna be restricted cause since i fitted the 34mm carb and the new top end kit it kinda wants to wheelie, infact when i first put the carb on i entered a round-about and as i come off the front end lifted and well when it finally come back down i seriously hurt my hand, for around 2 weeks i couldnt really ride cause it was hurting lol.

BTW heres my GSXR these are not the latest phots as the bike is now finished so if you want some finished pics just say i can get some whenever
Then it decided to drop the valve the first day i got on road, it seems like after being stood for two years everything was a bit stiff and well it all went a bit saggy and either the clearences went out or was out, or the valve rebounded... either way ive got a new top end fitted now and ill post some pics of the finished project if any of you are interested even tho its not a Aprillia, cause tbh its my best build ever and cost me near on 2,000 to do and lots of labour being one of the most rarest 400cc bikes and with no manuals in english also.

I would make a new thread and post a project thread but i dont think im allowed obviously cause its a 400cc and its not aprillia lol

Also it cost me 402 for insurance on this bike with pillion cover and decalring my 6 points and 1YR NCB

08-18-2012, 03:56 AM
my mates just bought a 98 gsxr 400 just like that ;) but different decals and colours ect... nice!

08-18-2012, 06:50 AM
Any new piccies of the rs125? Nice gixxer mate, love the wavey disks on it aswell! Looks stealthy.

08-18-2012, 11:16 AM
atm the rs125 is pretty dirty as there doing some building work next door same for the gsxr aswell really if not worse cause its black when i get a chance to clean them ill get some pictures :D

08-18-2012, 12:31 PM
Nice here in the states it is a great deal to find one for 3500 US

08-18-2012, 04:59 PM
my gsxr 400 is now running again gotta fit the rad, change oil, and secure tank and panels etc

08-20-2012, 12:31 AM
Nice bike there Killdog, and Welcome back.

08-20-2012, 01:52 AM
