My White DD1200 has finally arrived !!!
Wouldn't ya know it, my dealer called me an said my bike was finally in this morning. I was loading my DD750 and a Harley on my trailer to head for Deal's Gap for the next 2 weeks. Tempting, to get the 1200 ready to go, but it would be a difficult prospect, breaking the beast in on those fabulous Smokey Mountain roads. Ahh well, will leave the bike on his floor till I get back. Will post some pics and comments perhaps later tonight. Wahooooo!!!

Congrats! Too bad about the timing as the mountain roads are a perfect place to break a bike in. I'm looking forward to the reports from you lucky "1st" owners as these have been on my radar since the first rumors.

Cheers

Yeah, they would be..... but tho I like a semi-hard run in on my machines and the curvy roads are perfect for it, I would be too tempted to overdo it on the few straight stretches of road, not to mention staying off the bike for enough time to completely cool it during the first few run-in cycles.

Very cool, how much heavier does it feel sittin on it and rockin it back/forth? I like the fully adjustable suspension on it. I notice they are putting black panels over the subframe sides now, earlier pictures dont have them, looked more like the DD750. Hurry n ride it, so we can decide to trade up or not.

I'll make sure and have Boris give me the keys so I can fart on the seat during my test ride. :D

Is that a spring holding the header to the mid? Different. I know it has a cat in each exhaust, I bet those things are a ton!

Aprilia's approach is bizzarre.

No non-ABS 1200DD in the UK. Why they cannot offer both models is beyond me.

I think there is some new Euro-only law that requires ABS on certain sizes or classes of new bikes. I think that law came out right when the DD1200 was introduced which caused the confusion on how they would be equipped for the UK.

I don't think it's actually law yet, although there does appear to be moves to make it so. I suspect Aprilia have pre-empted the law - wouldn't be the first time a manufacturer has chosen to add valuable extras to a bike suggesting it is in line with new laws.

For the record I am not anti-ABS.

from this list who can break in a 1200 and post a dynorun of the thing...
If that happens to be the AF1 guys I may apply that $50 to the purchase..

Should be able to get a dyno run in the not too distant future. Have just over 800 miles on the beastie now. It is getting more and more limbered up, what a JOY

I can tell you this from the butt dyno... take a 1200 Dorsoduro in the Rain mode map. The acceleration feels almost identical to the perceived acceleration I enjoyed with my 750 Dorsoduro with it running in Sport mode ! Not exaggerating. Can't say enough about the immense, linear and immediate TORQUE from the fantastic 1200 V-Twin.
The turn-in or turn reversal effort is somewhat greater on the 1200, compared to the 750DD, the superior suspension and brake components on the 1200, MORE than make up the difference for me.

Congratulations Centerline! I just saw my first 1200 today at our local dealer and that is an awsome machine. You've got to be the first to run a 1200 through Deal's Gap!

sensor by rear caliper?

sensor by rear caliper?

it's the speed sensor like all other aprilias except the 750s. They went away from the engine mounted speed sensor found on the 750s.

Reads off the brake rotor bolts so you can change sprocket sizes and the speedo is still accurate.

My paypal address is micahshoemakermedia@paypal

It may just be micahshoemakermedia@paypal.

Just search my name. Too funny on the dyno offer. I spent time on the roller with our 1200cc demoyesterday having never read of this offer to get paid! Off to Central America for me today! The money will be spent wisely.

The dyno graphs are in the thread about our aft demo bike

WOW, I cant believe Centerline is the only one with a new DD1200. Anyone else hiding in the shadows? cmon out and strut your stuff, tell us about this beasty of a bike. More opinions and input are needed. Anyone out there with a Dyno run yet? The DD1200 sounds like a torque monster.
