sold the gpr and picked up a ninja 250 in around october. It looked pretty horrible with standard exhaust and many tacky stickers over it. It was a bargain though, only done 400 miles!

Im pretty skint so fitted a stupidly loud exhaust (hotboies mgp slip on) i got for a third of the retail price brand new, exhaust hanger, seat cowl i got off a mate for 20 quid and removed stickers and rear footrests. I badly need a tail tidy tho!

I know you all hate these ninjas so i dont need you to tell me that again

I have my mod 1 in two days and mod 2 on thursday so any tips would be great

Unlucky mate, what training did you have for mod1/2 and how did you find mod1. I like the exhaust, if its not road legal you can get some BS plate off ebay to keep the cops at bay.

Take a look at the current issue of MCN...

There's a new tail unit for the Ninja 250; with solo seat, undertray, tail tidy and indicators all built into one unit. Looks good!

Too much cash haha the undertray u can get for about 150 quid with hidden taillight like
I had 5 lessons but they wernt brilliant, mod 1 is pretty straight forward but i was on a shitty ybr125 so was struggling to get up to speed on the swerve!

Good luck with the retest. Despite what people/I think, the bike is for you, and if you like it all is good. Being on a 250 is much better than the RS50/125 anyway.

yep im not bothered about it being amazingly fast it sounds good looks good and easy to ride, perfecr proper first bike :)
think the ninjas top out at 110 but im not exactly do that everywhere, 66 on my old 50 was quick enough but i suppose i did do that speed everywhere :p

They race the shit out of those 250 over here in the States. I am a little big for one but would like one of those or a RS125 to have fun on. They will both do 110mph and are cheap on parts.

Don't want to come off as a dick but wear your gear. If she goes down doing 10mph you might as well date a roast beef sandwich.

xXxKillDogxXx

Tom-Hutch
03-06-2011, 04:46 AM
Bike boots are strong for a reason . . For socks to protect you they would have to be like a cast!

xXxKillDogxXx
03-06-2011, 05:24 AM
it dosnt have to protect me fully if i brake my ankle its the schools fault since i cant wear boots cause going into school with boots then having to change to my school shoes just isnt practical at all atleast if i can get extra protection of some sort from the sock then it something i suppose.

Haha

How is it the school's fault?! It's your decision to ride a bike!

Wear boots and put them in your locker, and change into school shoes? Or get a pair of black Sidi Vertigo boots or similar that you can get away with when wearing black trousers at school?

you musnt have heard kart engines, screaming at 17k they sound so much better. im not saying this sounds bad but its just not to my taste, i dont like the sound of small engined 4 strokes, imo my gpr50 sounded a hell of alot nicer than any 50.125.250 4stroke

Tom-Hutch

passed yesterday finally!
now realised why i wanted a 4 stroke, less fun in some way but any gear at pretty much any speed it pulls, dont think that exhaust will last very long tho!

Congrats mate :)

Got my Mod1 tomorrow, any last minute tips?

Tom-Hutch
03-15-2011, 06:42 PM
sorry for late reply, be in second gear on the swervethen roll off throttle completely after you have gone through speedtrap for engine braking then flick the bike round cones
emergency stop - no gear changes
figure of eight - look where you want to end up always and go as wide as possible
u turn - drive forward a bit first to get ur balance then do it, as with figure of eight look where u want to be
REMEMBER LEFT AND RIGHT SHOULDERS BEFORE ANYTHING AND EVEN DO CHECKS WHEN PUSHING THE BIKE INTO A SPACE
if ur on a ybr125 or something ur going to need to accelerate hard coming out of the turn before speedtrap i only just made it

hope this helps mate, Good Luck!!

Also another thing when ur booking ur mod 2, ring up dsa instead of doing it on website, i could have had my mod 2 again the day after i failed it when i rang up but on the website it said 2 weeks wait, they dont bother updating it with the canncellations as much

DK.Tandy
03-16-2011, 06:16 PM
how was the mod2? i got mine on the 29th. any tips for that?

Tom-Hutch
03-17-2011, 11:49 AM
use a ybr from a bike school, dead easy to ride, check ur mirrors every 30 seconds nd physically move ur head so examiner knows ur doing it, look at road signs before roundabouts and make sure ur in the right lane, generally check all signs, look over shoulder before slowwing down for lights etc and look again when speed limit on road changes, lif savers on all turns
relax, i was shitting myself on my first one and rode shit did everything wrong, get into the right mind set and u forget the examiner is there
if ur in the wrong lane for a roundabout, follow that lane they cant fail you for going the wrong way, no changing lanes, dont filter in traffic, when stopped always put left foot down only and right foot resting on the brake
cant think of much else just make sure your up to speed on national speed limits and that and dont be too hesitant coz they can do you for not making enough "progress"
road positioning is key anlso be chaecking ur shoulder when moving out to avoud parked cars etc
and the main one always be looking well ahead to judge potential hazards/anticipate traffic

ones that get me are tiny islands, where its like a T juntion apart from you at the top of the T and basically going straight on, but you still have to lifesaver and indicate along with the other tiny islands where you indicate right to go round, pass 1st exit and straight away indicate, life saver change postion and head down next exit all within like 3 seconds..
