Another Aprilia rider in Newcastle!!!!!! Snowcone who posted before you, put in a link to what looks like a good crew to catch up with for a ride, check it out.

I do though know what you mean about not seeing other Aprilias about up here. I see an occasional RSVR or Mille, but very rarely another Tuono, and have ever only seen one Falco (he was a baker who lived a block away from me and would come home on it at 5am. The Leo Vinci cans on it didn't make him especially popular in the neighbourhood at that hour of the morning!).

I do very much like your wheels and forks; I want!!!!!!

And the cops are cool here too, I don't think passing 2 bike cops at about double the posted limit, cranked over with the knee just off the deck would just jet you a polite wave in Aus :D

On my third Aprilia - an 03 RSVR. Love it! Had an 06 Tuono with cored pipes before this and an 04 RSV1000R first, also with cored pipes.

Planning on coring the mega pipe on the RSVR and fitting the smaller front sprocket. If there's anything I miss from the Tuono its the way it just wheelied everywhere -but the Ohlins on the RSVR makes up for it - incredible!

Looks like Australia has beat California to the punch with plans to phase out incandescent lightbulbs by 2010, according to this AP story on Yahoo News.

We previously wrote about how California is considering banning incandescent light bulbs.

Claiming a world first for a national government, Environment Minister Malcolm Turnbull said incandescent lightbulbs would be phased out by 2010 in favour of the more fuel-efficent compact fluorescent bulbs.

He said replacing the traditional coiled filament bulbs invented by Thomas Edison in the 19th century would cut Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions by four million tonnes a year by 2015.

Nonno
02-17-2011, 03:18 AM
yep, that's correct, but we don't plan on any changes to the 300 odd million ton of coal we mine each year! No matter what the light bulb, you still need electricity to power it up!

Hi new on this site, but have seen one familiar username already.
Have wanted an RSV since corser raced them and each update I just liked them more. So a couple moths back I thought "stuff it, I'm getting one" have only had a couple short rides so far as work is getting in the way, but I love it and getting used to a twin fairly quickly.
And a great site this, a lot of info to go through before I got the bike.

Its a good track, we just had it extended last year. Its no P.I. but a hell of a lot better the qr. The track is a little bumpy in some area but a lot of fun.
Bit annoyed that I am going to miss it would be good to see a full grid of non jap race bikes.

That's a bummer.I heard they extended it I have a few mates that do track days and do some coaching there. How do the big bikes get around there? And what sort of bike do you throw your leg over.?:)

The big bikes go a lot better on the big track compared to the little one.

I got an RSV for the road, but race a CBR 250 I started mid season last year and thought a bike like the cbr would be better to start on compared with a more powerful bike. You would be surprised how fast those little screamers can go. we can also enter them in two classes.
would love to get a RS250 next.

You victorians are lucky with the number of tracks you got, I gotta get down there one day.

The cbr will certainly teach you corner speed, that's where it's won and lost I think?.it would have it all over the big bikes in the tight and twiwsty bits, We have the choice of 4 tracks down here all within a 4 hour radias. Chamions ride days have a wknd where you do broad ford sat winton sundy .the rs250 would be pretty cool

As a long term member here, I have just stumbled on this thread. We used to run a monthly ride for aprilia owners in Melbourne, had them posted on the Aus site with ride reports following. Good bunch of people and some great friendships developed from it, but that was a few years ago.

Maybe its time to restart? Thoughts welcome!

I'm a bit far away from you Oz, like 1250k's too far, but there a few guys using the site who actually reside here in Newcastle, and plenty based in Syd' as well. Likewise there seems to be plenty in Melb' also.

I did cross my mind to see if there was any interest for a spring weekend trip up the Oxley Hwy from the assembled NSW Aprilia people.

I'm not one for organising big groups, too much brain damage. My organising skills tend to sign off on, here is where we are meeting, this is the time we roughly plan to leave, this is the basic route, this is the phone number of where we are staying, if you're keen, get yourself sorted with a room and we'll see you on the day. I'm thinking a late Sept weekend if anyone interested?

Self on the Shiver + 1 on Moto Guzzi V7 could possibly get down for a run up/down the Oxley September-ish. Never done it before. Perhaps someone closer and more familiar with best food and accommodation in the region could get something organised.:)

Doing the Oxley from where you are means that the Oxley is only half the fun! You can come down Summerland Way, then from Grafton across the Nymboida and up to Dorrigo. From Dorrigo onto Armidale, Uralla, Walcha and the Oxley. You lucky bugger!

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. Was it on the section where you turn off the Hwy and head in Wauchope past the little industrial estate?? It's often very chopped up there, and with the rain we've had!!!!!

Anyway, hope you came out okay.

Was on Bago Rd, downhill right hander that tightened up mid-corner and caught me off guard. Ran wide into the gravel. Spoke to one of the locals, someone comes off that corner every couple of weeks!
Dislocated toe, some tendon damage and bruising to my right foot and knee, but otherwise unscathed. Still limping but that's what physio is for.

My family all live in Tamworth which I try and make a ride up to every Easter at minimum. In the last couple of years, this has involved an overnight stay in Taralga then day 2 through Oberon, Bathurst, Sofala, Rylstone and the Bylong Valley Way into Muswellbrook and then the New England. Next time I do it, I'll let you Newcastle guys know as would be great to hook up somewhere like Rylstone as the Bylong Road since it has been sealed is a good run (which I am sure you know).

I have also done runs up the Putty, then out through Gresford, Dungog and Bucketts through Gloucester and on to Walcha, and have done the Oxley from the coast across a number of years ago. Some good riding to be had!

Not yet. I just ordered the Renegade kit from the UK. Once it arrives, I'll be getting it installed & tuned - ideally before the trip. Will ask if I can get the Map tuned to keep the smoothness but minimise fuel burn without affecting its grunt too much. It will be nice not to have to bite my nails each 150km!

Whilst I have used the T at both PI and E/ck, I do have a CBR954 Fireblade as a tracky. It has unpainted, dirty, ratty looking cheap chinese fairings on it, but a full Ti Arata race system with a custom mapped PC, white power rear shock with high/low speed comp' adj', Ohlins cartridges in the forks, a gpr steering damper and braking wave rotors. All in all, it looks very ratty, but has all the shit. So much so that there really is no excuse for how slowly I drag my fat arse around on it!:)

Haven't crashed it yet, but have crashed the T at E/ck. That was a prick let me tell you!:crybaby:

I would love to, but PI is a bit far from Adelaide just for the one day.
Hope to get there for a couple of days of CSS in the not too distant future.
In the mean time will just have to live with Mallala

Saw your thread on ASF, looking good, did you know that the later one will have the bigger 57mm throttle bodies that will fit the other bike. Common upgrade I think. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Between me and a few mates track parts are coming together. I made carbon fibre heel plates for bling , mate knocked up axle knobs using F18 fighter jet front wheel bolts cause he's in that industry. I can picture a plane parked off to one side missing a front wheel. It's gone to a good home.GB engine covers , frame knobs from evil bay and exhaust hanger welded by another mate and cleaned / painted by me

Puig screen arrived today so there is still hope of race glass this week. Rant Time . The mob I brought the bike from Paulls Richmond , Sydney said they would do the 1000 km service as part of the buying deal. When I removed the fairings the oil filter hadn't been touched , bastards. So after a call they would send me the oil and filter which was OK with me and I would do the oil change that way I would know it was done right. week goes by and no package so I email the bastards and get sorry we only posted it to day f-ck me what a crap way to do business. Rant Over. I see there are a few SA boys , next year we are coming over to do a day at Mallala so once we are organized I will put up a message. My previous track bike was a zx6rr-04 bloody great track bike that I found very comfortable so the rsv4 will be a big learning curve , not just the extra power but the riding position , brakes and general feel. Been out for a few test runs on back roads to set suspension etc now it's wait for the track on sunday.

Sweet. Im actually racing at Mallala this weekend...My first race. so it will be interesting...my track bike is a 08 zx6r, I took it for a spin the other day round the block....and it feels like shit compared to the rsv4....and considering the zx6 was my street bike u until May...

So setting it up for the track will be intesting as I took some advice and went back to a 180 rear for now....so hopefully I can atleast get the suspension right!

Broadford FIRST track day
Broady is 70km north of Melbourne, small undulating right hand track ( only 2 left turns )
Had a nice drive down on Saturday , Sunday was a rippa .
My ride plan for the day was find some free track in med slow and check out the ride with the engine map in R with only 950 km on the clock I set the shift light at 7500 as per the manual. First few sessions went ok I had dropped a tooth on the front sprocket , the bloody shift light was near on all the time. It was harder to get around corners than the kawa 600 and the double left onto the straight I could have run around faster in bare feet.I think I need to rethink my cornering tech . After lunch it clocked over 1000km on the clock and the manual says I can now go to 9500. Much better , having a heap of bikes pass me on the straights was giving me the shits. last 2 sessions I changed to map S , came onto the front straight hit third gear and had my first power wheelie without trying. still changing at 9500 it was starting to fly.The rest of the day got better with each lap. In the pits I counted 3 other RSV4 there. Plan now is broady DEC sat 17th , Phillip Island Jan fri 6th, Winton Feb sat 12th, Eastern Creek may 5th
The only hick up I had was walking into AMX at Keilor ( bike clothing warehouse ) to get a can of chain lube and walking out with new track leathers , if nothing else I now look like a weekend track rider. I will have to hide them from the missus for a few months

Yeah, Hi Slung = no passenger rearsets. Worth it for the look though. Just tell your pillions to buy their own bike. Got mine direct from Austin Racing website, think that would be cheapest place
