I'm just noticing some pitting and corosion on the gas cap of my 2007 Tuono Factory, and was wondering if anyone else is seeing the same thing?

Any suggestions for a cover or replacement? I did a Forum seach and the only suggestion was a member had installed the Yoyodyne model and was really pleased with it.

There are a bunch of CNC gas caps on eBay, etc. I was thinking of doing the vinal cover up think, either fake carbon or a lion head from Keiti. Not sure about how tacky that would look with the real carbon I have on my Factory.

I like the looks of the PSR 1/4 turn gas caps, any other suggestions?

Atom,
I have the Ligh Tec (very similar to Yoyodyne) 1/4 turn that I kept from my Factory and though I love the look, I haven't decided if I wanna put it on my Tuono just because for me, its gets annoying always having to take the cap off, and make sure that it doesnt fall on the ground....

From a visual appearance, it's awesome though.

Thanks for the feedback on the lighttec! I was looking at that one quite seriously...Anyone have the carbon version from TWM? It comes in either quick release, or locking versions.

From what I've been able to find, the aftermarket caps have more cons then pros...

Pros: Looks trick! No more corrosion.
Cons: No more stock lock, no more hinge (easy to lose, steal, or drop the cap), leaks, extra keys for the locking versions.

I dunno. Maybe the vinal, carbon-like cover is the way to go. I really just want to cover the ugly corrosion and pitting. $15 for the Keti stick on. $185 for the real carbon cap...

I have the same Yoyodyne on my factory and love the way it looks. I have had no issues with it and it went on in a snap.

Well, it seems our choices are getting less and less. I checked the Keiti website and Tucker Rocky who distributes their products, and the vinal carbon look cover has been discontinued. Keiti aparently has decided to drop making tank pads, gas cap covers and all products for Aprilia bikes. Whatever. I guess you stick to your bread and butter money makers. Btw, the PSR version I first posted is for pre-2004 RSV and pre-2007 Tuono's. It won't fit the second gen bikes.

I'm thinking of biting the bullet and buying the carbon cap in the photo above. Opp sells them from TWM. I like the looks of the Yoyodyne and know they're top quality, but for a few bucks more I'll give the carbon one a shot. I do think that the key to any aftermarket change will be to get new gaskets. That way if it leaks, I know it's truely due to the product and not the fit or installation (I hope). I'll post some pics after I install it for everyone to see.

Anyone use one of those you can find on ebay? I had one on a Suzuki without any issues.

my yoyodyne has no gaskets, all o-ring seals. One thing to consider with your carbon ones is how the gas fumes will react with the resins over time.

Good point! Not sure if they coat them like the carbon gas tanks. Will let you know. I'll have it in about 3 weeks, according to OPP.

I bought one for my RS 250 from a guy in Fremont, CA. Local for me, but wasn't able to meet the maker and do a local pick up. Nice quality, no problems yet! Well made, easy to install.
