Does anyone know if our (US 2009 model) wiring harness and CDI hookups are the same as the Euro version (2006 and up) ?

All the hookups are the same as the Euro 3 harness, the Euro 2 harness will not work.

Euro 3 is what 'starting' year? 2006?

I think it's only later models. You can tell straight away by the CDI connector I believe - the Euro 2 have a smaller grey circular connector.

The rest of the harness is pretty much identical though, so for a piggy back harness, it doesn't matter.

The old style CDi can run the engine. BUt the problem with the new bikes with the carb. You would need to turn it back to a cable system. Though its not hard I'd say. Also, if you want to run with the clock onboard, you would have to run both CDI's.

2007 and 2008 Australian and European models were Euro3 . The Euro 2 harness has 1 plug on the CDI, Euro 3 has 2 plugs.

You're welcome. The Euro 3 harness does not include the headlight or parking light harnesses, or so you will need them too.

Sorry but youre wrong, but not totally. Seems like some early 2007 models managed to slip through before they made them with the new electrics. ;)

To keep it short, my 2007 model has the euro2 harness with the nippondenso CDI unit. :burnout:

Thread resuurection time! Just acquired a 2006/7 model, reg 2008, it's a euro 3 with 2 plugs on the CDI. Now I have not exhaustively searched, but is it true the Euro 3 11Kw bike has a different harness and CDI? I cannot see a plug for the rave solenoid. Being the late CDI obviously it shouldn't have a rave controller connection. Any more info on this gratefully recieved. It rides very 'strangled', just feels wrong. I'm going to change the airbox snorkel and muffler, but proper derestriction is on hold till the lad has his test. I've been told it needs the harness off a Euro 3 full power bike, but find this a bit hard to believe.

Different harness, yes. I believe it has a similar if not same CDI.
Do a search on pjme's site. There's a dual map, programmable CDI that hooks up to the non American harness. Offers 2 mappings via a switch mounted to the clipon.

Let me know what you think....

Wonder how much it would cost to post to UK? If it's economic I'd take it, but I'd be guessing $15-$20 just for the postage.

PJ just do a CDI for up to 2006, not the euro 3 models.

Using the euro 2 harness and ditching the dash and tps (complete carb for that matter). Track only, of course.

LOL, mate, have you ever ridden a restricted RS125? It's a bit like having sex when you are drunk, and can't quite finish!

Right...missed the restricted part somewhere....
Wouldn't a bicycle be just as fast?

Nice analogy by the way. Remind me to never ride a restricted (Euro) Rs125.

Ah, slight crossed purposes then. Yep, 14 HP if that. It does about 75 with me flat on the tank. However, it's not the top speed that's a particular problem, but the lack of zest. It feels athsmatic, you can tell it can't breathe. I'm perfectly happy for my 17 yr old to ride it like that for another few weeks, but I'll need to sort it out when he passes his test . So, I need a Euro 3 full power harness, possibly a CDI, and I have the rest. New airbox snorkel, new silencer, and a powervalve. Oh, and a pocketfull of Dell 'Orto jets.
