View Full Version : Seat cowl for the rear seat available?

fnfalman

I think that it's a freakin' travesty for the bike to come with the rear seat instead of the plastic seat cowl. I didn't see any seat cowl listed on AF1 website, so that probably means I'll have to order one from Europe?

After cheating us out of warranty, turn signals, mirrors, lights etc... You think they could have thrown in that cover. Especially since theres not even footpegs for a passenger.

I saw it on the diagram, but do you guys carry it? Plan on carrying it?

We have a few ordered, but none in stock yet.

Unfortunately, when I checked this morning, I learned that all are spoken for and Aprilia won't let us order any more, for now.

If some of you guys are just tracking em, why not get the full fibreglass rear end etc instead of a small cover thats no doubt expensive and wont do anything? they sell them on Ebay over here

We're working on getting full race fiberglass made, and it should be ready by Mid February. There also seems to be a large percentage of US RS125 owners who want to use these bikes on the street, so the solo cowl might be preferred for that reason too.

Not exactly a seat cowl, but I have talked with a couple people already who would like to know if there is a black replacement passenger saddle instead of the red (which appears to stain pretty easily)

Here is the black passenger saddle:

Regular allen head bolts would look terrible there.

Hi guys,

I'm new to posting but i've been on the forum for a while now.

I try to order the cowl from www.apriliagenuineparts.co.uk and they said Aprilia has raised the price to 139.99 pounds.

I also have the same response from http://www.apriliapartsbuyer.co.uk/

Is this true? Did anybody managed to buy with the 54.00 price and when was that?

Thanks

i haven't received it yet. they said it takes a few days to get the stock then they will send it to me. the item is shown as special order (delivered within 7 10 working days). btw they charged 53.86+15 (shipping) to my credit card so there was no absurd price. :plus: i'll update once i receive it. :)

if it's aftermarket then they shouldn't label it http://www.speedaway.co.uk/skin/speedaway/image/logos/aprilia.png Genuine Part but i don't mind as long as the price is reasonable and quality is good. ;) the jury is out... for now. :p:

but they might play the tune of this which i don't like... "The price quoted for this part is based on the manufacturers price for the item. Occasionally however, some parts are superceded by alternative components provided by these manufacturers that also mean the price is different to that shown. Should this be the case with any parts within your order, Speedaway will contact you to advise you of this as well as offer you a refund for the part in question." they have not informed me of any price change or change of order. we shall see...

Ok. the fiber-glass cowl is finished now.

Got it professional done by a local garage with very good crafting skills.

They sanded off all the rought edges and smooth out the surface twice. 3 coats of paint + real pearl flake then finish off with the clear coat.
And this is color match by eye since there are no color code.
The camera is really hard to catch the pearl paint but now it looks very OEM.

Got one from speedaway recently. They shipped it to the US in an envelope wrapped in bubble wrap. It is fiberglass, and had cracks in the gelcoat from shipping. The sides that cover the glovebox were cut uneven. Overall it will be ok after it is worked, but just know what to expect before you order. The package has a "Genuine Aprilia Parts" sticker on it, but it is aftermarket.

I know this is a old thread but can some one help me out. I am looking at making a solo cowl for the RS125 bikes but i could do with some info first please. I know the ones out their have two bolts at the rear of it but i want to make one for the bike that has no bolts showing at all. What i need is a picture of the back end with the seat removed so i can see if this is possible to make. I make cowls for bikes and have done for a number of years and this is one that i will be making at a low price but like i said i dont like showing bolts anywhere on my cowls if i can help it.

decipher28
10-27-2013, 02:21 PM
seeing a little niche there are you:) the holes at the back have to be there to hold the rear section of the cowl down with the rear side fairings. You also need two screw holes at the front of the cowl to go through the seat cable lock.If the rear screws/bolts bothered you that much you could always make some caps to cover them.

I wouldn't try to redesign it compared to the factory cowl.Just copy it if you want to make some. The cowl in its currently format looks good and works.

Well i now have the cowls in production in white and in black. Would have liked to put a metal tab at the rear to get rid of the rear bolt holes but i could not get hold of a bike to use for the fitting. Maybe in time i will get hold of one to do this on as i dont like seeing bolts if i can help it. Any way if anyone wants one let me know and i will post world wide.
