This is likely the one and only time they'll be imported into the US. Estimates are that there are less than 200 stateside.

not street legal right ??

Imported as a "competition vehicle", it is stamped on the frame that on road use is illegal. They do have a 17 digit VIN though.

missing part of the mirrors, all the turn signals, and the wiring harness is different. Headlight and tailight are there, just not working.

We are gathering the missing parts as we speak.....

Yeah that's prolly true.

I'm jumping the gun a bit...can't wait to see these things fully "trackified" over here.

Polyesther fairings have been available in europe for 2 years now, since around here there are lots of 125 youth classes.

Talking about lots of trackified rs125's...

There are a few different makes available for the RS125. They run Aprilia Superteens in the UK and ADAC Junior Cup in Germany on these bikes with full track fairings so sourcing a bunch shouldn't be that hard.

Edit: sorry Neo, missed your post :/

I have a "grey market importer" friend who's been riding one of these around here for a few months .... fully street legal and properly licensed. He's also done a few engine mods. It's a beautiful little bike, I'd like to get one to display in the living room!

I have seen a bike like that on CL and he has been riding it too! I think you could get away with it just have to be carefull! I just saw this bike at Eurosports in FT worth and they said it was 5400.00 Clean little bike . It had no mirors or turn signals they have been taken off. I think it would be easy to find the stuff thats missing . They said the mirrors are the same as a 03 rsvr... I would like one biut racing the Duc and Aprilia is so dand expensive!!!!

Intruiging.

What's the cost looking like for top-end / bottom-end here in the states from an Aprilia dealer? Would it be safe to use RS250 mile duration and apply it to the rs125?

We are gathering the missing parts as we speak.....OK, so we'll be counting on you to list in detail the "night racing" conversion kit ;)(harness etc.) with part numbers and general cost. Make sure to include the rear license plate bracket, mirrors and turn signals (for gentleman's racing ;)).

I got to ride one at Femmoto in Vegas the other weekend. I was able to ride it in the open track day and LOVED it. I am getting for one for sure. I was able to drag knees in just about every turn. I have been dreaming about it since.

we didnt have timers on them.....we havent been back since.....hopefully be back out there soon

they did 2:11s at TWS on the normal big track.....quite impressive since TWS is a huge HP track, and the RS has a 100-105mph top speed.....it needed taller gearing for TWS. Passed SVs in turns.

I wish I could ride one of these at a track.. I know the handling would be great, but I think i'd find myself wanting more grunt...

Or wishing you didn't botch that turn entry speed ;)

Speaking as someone who has ridden one on the track I would have to say there is a lack of grunt! My other bike is a Triumph Daytona 675, which means my RS125 is giving up almost 80HP at the rear wheel! I was on track with 4 other 675's and they weren't blowing my doors off... Yes they were faster, but the only place that they had a big advantage was in the straights.

Your biggest problem is your not running against other rs125's. That would make the bike a real blast. Your always going to be racing against 600's 750's and 1000's. An equal rider on a 1098R or a next years RSV4 obviously will school you! Try to stick to shorter tracks.

What is really great is that the bike really makes you concentrate on the fundamentals of racing. The penalty of being in the wrong gear is high. This bike takes you back to the basics of riding. If you can be truly fast on this bike, you can be faster on a bigger bike.

Also, there's another 10-15 HP hiding in the bike with some work.

As for short trips, 10 to 15 mins... the only drawback is making sure the bike is sufficiently warm before you leave (no fuel injection and there's a choke!!). Making sure you get the motor hot enough so you are cleaning the plug at running temp and not fouling up the PV.

On long trips, you should be fine. Back roads are better!!! Cruising at highway speeds (55 or 60)should be fine, above that may be a little rough above 80MPH (top speed is only 105ish) it will be screaming! Make sure you bring some extra 2t oil!!!!

Ya, if this bike had the 550 (or even 450) supermoto motor in it, I'd have one already, but... I want something I can run at normal tracks without sportbikes and not be a speedbump... I can always get out the supermoto and have at it, but I'd like a sportbike with that kind of power to weight ratio...
