I don't know exactly what version they used, but my dealer just changed the stock mapping on mine at the suggestion of an Aprilia tech with the goal of alleviating the stuttering I was having. I don't have it back yet, so I don't know what difference if any, it made yet.

I have a feeling dumb ass dealerships are putting the wrong map onto
the 2009's and that is causing some problems with stuttering and bad

Would all of you call your dealer, and ask them which program they're using,
so we can eliminate this as an issue. This info will be beneficial whether
you're having problems or not.

I asked the service guy if he changed it to "dealer development mode" and he said "yea, basically." I don't even think he knows or cares what he did. He just did what the guy from Aprilia told him lol, and doesn't remember unless he looks at his notes or something.

Well, good news! I got it back, and it does indeed run fine. As I explained before he wasn't very specific about what mapping it was that he used, but the invoice says "installed d-map".
No sputtering, and seems to have better acceleration and throttle response. It also now settles in at 8500k rpm's instead of 8k like it did before.

AF1 is going to be my repair/dealer of choice....you guys have any input on how they are?

08-09-2008, 06:07 AM
I haven't gotten anything from af1, but Steve and Micah from af1 post here, and they are both interested in sr50's and knowledgeable about them. If I lived near them, I'd definitely go to them for my scoot/service/parts/supplies.

Update part two:
It is definitely faster with the new mapping. I hit a top speed of 58 today downhill, vs 55 old top speed, and on a less steep hill than the previous record.
On level ground, sitting up normally I was hitting 47 or 48, vs 45 or so previously.
I also hit 50 on some mildly rolling long straight roads.
On an uphill on the road to work where I normally get down to 31, I went past the same spot at 35 today.
All per the speedo, which I know is a little bit faster than actual.

Are you guys even out of the break-in milage?

The bike gets faster as you put more kilometers on it regardless of any other changes.

I am at 800+ miles
