Yup... Now the bike sounds like a vaccuum cleaner and wont rev over 7000 and I smell burning and its overheating... soooo... yup...

I think this bike is cursed or doomed or something. this is just impossible. I have a gremlin.

Its gonna have to go back to 'the shop'... aaaaand I dont know whats gonna happen because Im not paying so I guess I'll end up with a lien on my bike but atleast it will run if only for someone else...

This is so frustrating i dunno wtf to do

I sold my "gremlin". But, beware that gremlins return. So, if you're already
gettin your gremlin fix, then get it.

what kind of "burning" do you smell? Rubbery, 2-stroke oil-ey, plastic-y, electronic? How long do you have to run it to smell this? How high is your coolant level?

I hope you did not mention what you were doing and just told them it was because of the original issue you took in for.

Other than taking a bus, yup. :(

I told them to gut it and find the problem... so... here I am... scooterless

Have you received your scoot back from the shop yet?
If so, what did they find that was making the noise?

K so turns out my variator nut backed off and also my fuel in/out is loose (the fuel rail I think it is)

so hopefully now that we've got it narrowed down we can get a new fuel rail in there.

It was the vaccuum cleaner noise and smell. The lack of RPM I can't figure...

With your variator nut being loose, won't that limit movement of the belt hence causing RPM limitation?

MisterSprinkles

Ya but its all fixed- the RPM issue isn't actual RPM its the RPM sensor -- my tach shows zero or 2000 when Im at 8000, then comes back up it only does it 1 out of 10 rides... :bangwall:

What year is your Ditech?....who (last) installed the variator nut?
