Is it advisable to flip a rear knobby to get a better bite? I keep killing rear tires on the 550 and was wondering if I could save some cash.

My RXV550 rounds off the knobs so fast not sure it's worth the effort. But I've done it on other bikes and I thought it was time well spent. Never had any issues with the tires either.

not such a dumb question ,i think the tyres are made totally different to road/track tyres,(cord) which means the only issue is the angle of weave,i am lead to believe is 60 degrees.if this is the case a flip will not make any difference what so ever as its the same both ways.

Lots of tires (knobbies) are actually advertised as reversible. As long as the tread doesn't change dramatically when you turn it around, it'll be fine. One direction may bite better than the other is all.....

I've been flipping my tyres for years racing MX,a word of warning thou ,if you race or ride on hard pack you will have reduced braking force due to the round knobs.
