View Full Version : Front mudgaurd

While I like the look of the Strada and its 17" wheels. I also like the look of the trail mudguard and think one of these would look quite good on my Strada, giving the normal supermoto look.
My one concern is, would the rear part of the thrail mudguard look wrong with the 17" front wheel?
Has anyone else here tried this conversion?

I've wanted to do this ever since I got mine, looked at both bikes in the shop and the trail forks are totally different but I still think the upper mudguard will fit but at 70 it needs to. On the trail the lower legs have different mounting brackets so my idea was to just cut back the strada front section so it looks like the Honda FMX650 or Yam XTZ660 and then trim the stanchion protectors on the upper guard so they clear the lower.Next problem is colour as i'm on the red strada I don't think the grey would match up so would probably get it painted to match.Check through previous posts as there are some pics of a red strada with an aftermarket front enduro style guard on it

Here you go .....

The mudguard is a universal UFO part I got from ebay for about 20 - added the colour graphics. Had to drill a few holes and make up 4 spacers but very easy. The fork guards are homemade (1/2 round drain pipe and plastic brackets - cost 8 all together!) and help make the front end look a bit beefier as well as protecting the forks for a bit of off roading.
Cheers, Iain

Now that looks rally cool. Just the sort of thing I am thinking of doing.
This look kinda finnishes the bike off.
As for fitting the mudguard off of teh trail model, my Strada is a Black/grey one, so one in a standard one would look OK.
All I need to do now is to find teh time to do this mod.

Now colour coded! :burnout:

Oh, also 'raised' the forks about 1"

Looking really good. Any chance of some more pictures showing how the mudgaurd and fork protectors are made/mounted?

Sorry, haven't got more details pictures.
I cut down a UFO supermoto mudguard and it needed 4 spacers (about 20mm) to fit clear of the cowling. The fork guards are 3" half-round guttering with 3" gutter clamps (fit the forks perfectly!). I think it makes the front look more 'chunky'! :)
