Its going to be expensive no matter who does it. Those parts aren't cheap from aprilia! When my scooter was stolen and then returned damaged, the final repair cost was about 1400$ (around 850 pounds). Similar parts were damaged, but the radiator was fine, mine was almost all body damage, and some damage to the ignition and steering lock. I never ended up paying that though, because the scooter was stolen from the dealership's lot, and so their insurance bought me a brand new one. ;)

Anyway, good luck.. You can try having them fix only the things the scooter needs to function, and then hunt around for body work that people are selling. You might end up with a mismatched set, but you could paint it, and still save some money over buying it all new.

Did you have insurance on the bike? If not, this might be a good reason to think about getting it. ;)

I'm glad you are doing ok, but a broken knee sucks! It will probably be next spring before you are riding again? Good luck with the recovery man.

peace,
sam

ummm... my friends scooter that got pranged had a damaged front fairing, loose steering rack (or whatever theyre called), snapped right brake lever and pretty scratched up front mud gaurd... for the new fairing it was about 450 euros, the mudguard was about 100 euros... brake lever was 70 and the steering to be tightened was about 40 euros... ummm... theres nothing alotta fibre glass and patience wont fix... but as phidauex said, "Those parts aren't cheap from aprilia!"...
glad to hear u alrite... hope ur knee heals really fast so u can get back on ur scooter as soon as possible...

oh... if u decide to get new parts... look at prices here in holland or in germany... should be a bit cheaper than england seeing its a slightly bigger market over here...

Looking around in twist & Go someone is selling a ditech in the UK for roughly 1000pds so you could buy that for spare parts (or ride that and keep yours for spares!).

if you live anywhere near the sea you could try a boat builder to see what they would charge to stick the fairing back together. They work for a hell of a lot less than a car or bike mechanic and sticking bent fibreglass back together is bread and butter work for them. they are also probably at least as good as a car/moto man at making everything fair and matching afterwards.

However on the radiator front I would suggest taking the thing off and taking it round to a radiator repair specialist that you should be able to find in the yellow pages. Alternatively a decent mechanic ought to be able to tell you where to get it soldered or brazed (not welded or you will melt a load of other stuff). You are probably looking less than 50 pds unless he has to start replacing some metal.
