Have been looking through the various airbox mods and options.

Does anyone know if its possible just to fix the Pipercross Twin Stack filter onto the stacks utilising the bottom of the OE airbox and then just removing the OE filter and top half of the OE box?? Or did that Carbon plate actually have more of a function than pretty looks?

I couldnt see on the pics how the filter was fixed or if it needed the plate and was thinking to just purchase and fit the filter rather than buy the entire kit.

Cheers.

The carbon base plate offers a flat surface for the filter to seal onto, and a place for the airboot to attach With the stock airbox you would never be able to get a soild seal with all the little molding shapes around the bottom of the airbox. You could make your own plate out of aluminum or other material, others have done this.

If you search in the Falco forum you will find some very nicely done Rene airbox copies. I think firebolt was one of the people associated with the Falco Rene copy. Check it out.
