Hi All, I have just joined this forum as I plan on buying a RSV R Factory 2004. The bike I am looking at is from California, I plan on importing it to Canada. It has 12000 Miles, looks in good condition in photos(buying off the internet) and has been regularly serviced. The asking price is $10995 USD, is this a good price for the amount of milage? I have always owned Japanese 4 cylinder bikes, 7 to be exact. It also has the Akropovic/Aprilia mufflers on it. What is a 12500 mile service generally worth? Are the engines good to say 50000 miles? Are there any differences between a California RSV compared with what the other states get?
thanks

Good day Drew2007. I would think that the price is OK. I saw one @ the Toronto International Bike show last weekend for $15999 Can with 1500 kms on the clock. The one thing that I can think of that would be different is the emissinos laws in Cali. Great bike you will love it as I do. Good luck.

Hi Drew

I bought my 2005 RSV1000R about 2 months ago from a Vespa dealer in London, Ontario. It was a demo with only 780 km on it. I paid $13,500 CAN. There is also one in Waterloo at Cycle Improvements for sale. It is a 2005 with about 5000 km if I recall. They want $14,000 for it. I took it for a test ride.... very nice. I would have bought it but then I found my bike.

I bought that bike! :) I talked the guy down to $14,300. It had 1810km on it. Whether that is a true milage indication or not, the bike is like new. The sad part is this bike has sat, and things like the swing arm recall has not been done.

phreakanature, Good deal!!!! I think you can still get the swing arm changed as it is a recall. I bought the 04 RSV Factory from California, It has 11000miles on it but I have bought bikes (Jap) with this many before and not had a problem. I still have to wait 5 weeks for the cheque to clear. Oh well, at least the weather will be better by the time I get it!!!!! Beats paying $22000 CAD for one up here!!!

Hey Drew,

Yes I think it was a good deal. (for those wondering that was $14,300 CAD for a Factory). It is like new. And after inspecting, and trying to take the battery out and reinstalling, the milage is true.

I am going to have my dealer make sure the known issues are resolved. As I said it has sat a while. It was owned by a guy that just let it sit in his car dealer showroom.

The swing arm has been ordered by my local Aprilia dealer. I am now trying to read up on the clutch and rear brake issues. I'm hoping this dealer knows everything there is to know about these issues. I don't want to insult the dealer with a list of things to do, but at the same time, I need to know they are resolved.

Good luck with the delivery of yours. I can't wait to get out on this machine.

I just noticed that you (YGROWU), are from Brampton. Don't mean to hijack the thread, I'm in Brampton too. We will have to hook up once the season starts.

Cheers.
