Well first of all. i have the 'old' ditech with the speedo that goes to 120km/h. after derestriction and gameboy 'tuning' it went about 100 on speedo.. and after all the things i have done to it 115 on speedo. However, the accuracy of the speedo s*cks so this would be 100 'real' km/h

i also have the old speedo, with 120kmh

when i got it it had:

1500kmh, it has ben derestricted, and it had a NX exhaust

it went almost 100 then, but threw time it slowed down,

then, i had a problem

my clucth was broken, it `blewedŽ a part

it nov reaches only 90kmh ;(...im buying now a malossi multivar

about te kevlar belt ; i was tolk, that the kevlar belts are too strong for 50ccm so instead of increasing the speed they dont increase speed

Paul, I love how you've removed the license plate mount and rear turn signals. What do you use for signals now (if anything)? How did you take it off, just cut it, or is that what the custom underseat is for? Its hard to tell from the pics.

I've been wanting to remove mine for a while now, but I haven't decided a good way to replace the turn signals. Turn signal integrators aren't an option in my book, the way things are around here, a bike needs as much visibility as it can get!

Anyway, nice ditech!

peace,
sam

@ phidauex

thx for the compliment... I have built the signals into my rear lights :D (they work aswell by the way). Teh underseat does not have space for the signal lights, so you can either disconnect them completely or you can build them in your rear lights like i did.

Paul

How did you make that underseat? Or where did you buy it? How much did it cost to do? I'd love to have a custom underseat like that! Thats just what I've been needing to eliminate my signals and license bracket for real.

sam

I bought the underseat from a Belgium guy, he makes them himself... it cost me about 70 euro's, so that's no too bad. the only thing yo gotta do is spray-paint it yourself... if you want his email, let me know...

I like the LEDs! I've got a weak spot in my heart for a little 'bling bling'. Big neon tubes and flood light ground effects are silly, but a few LEDs add less than an ounce to the weight of the vehicle, and consume a measly 20mA each. I recently cut off my rear fender and wired some LEDs in as license plate illumination, they look pretty nice.

Pictures forthcoming.

sam

After seeing your slick rear end, PAUL, I wanted one for myself. ;) The custom underseat looks nice, and isn't badly priced, but I thought I might be able to cludge something together for free, especially since I need to keep my license plate mounted, and I'd prefer to keep turn signals mounted for extra safety around here.

Turns out that a bracket already supplied with my SR for holding reflectors onto the license plate mount can be easily modified to be a fender eliminator bracket that provides mounting holes for the turn signals AND a license plate mount.

Linked images don't work in this forum, so I wrote it up here:

http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10768

The final product, for the impatient, is attached to the next post.

sam

You can see the bracket, the stock signals (which will be replaced with some lockhart phillips short stalks when I get the money), and the LEDs that provide license plate illumination. The license plate mount isn't attached yet because I haven't decided which screws to use yet, but it covers up most of the bracket, giving an even cleaner final look.

2001 ditech (US spec)
Gianelli NRX pipe
Malossi fly clutch
White contra spring
Malossi kevlar belt
6.0g weights
Derestricted (but not the latest software version)

Acceleration is brisk and consistent through the whole speed range.

Top speed, 62mph (100kph) as indicated on the speedo.

sam

These are LED-diode red coulor with 7000mCd. You need also a.. (don't know how it is called, but it is measured in Ohms). Then you fix it on the plastic with silicone.
New pics following. Gotta wait 'till the night :-)

The LEDs I have are red, 8000mcd (get them at http://www.superbrightleds.com ). To use an LED, you need to have a resistor in series with it (connected between the positive power connection and the positive lead of the LED (the longer one)). To calculate the size of the resistor you need, you can use this handy calculator: http://metku.net/index.html?sect=view&n=1&path=mods/ledcalc/index_eng

For instance, one red LED with a 2 volt forward voltage (pretty typical for reds), using 20mA of power (also pretty typical), the resistor value would be 560 ohms.

I use little panel mount connectors that the LED plugs into. They help keep it waterproof, and make it easy to switch LEDs out. I also use heat shrink tubing to keep the wiring neat. :)

LEDs are fun.

sam
