Clear tail light lens
Has anyone seen one of these for a Falco? Do they exist? Mille and Tuono ones are about, but I can't find Falco ones.

I've been looking around for them as well. It seems that no one bothered doing a prototype yet - I heard some British guy living in France could do a prototype mould (he is the mini-LED man, can't recall name nor company).

I e-mailed THESE people, I wonder if it's worth hassling them to do one for the Falco, if they get enough interest they may do.
I'd forgotten about Motobitz, are they still going? What did the French do with them? |

Motobitz group buy
I'm only in if they mould an E1 approval mark in there - basically like the Originial part. Otherwise it won't pass out stupid German beancounting MOT / Techical Control (yes, they check E numbers on all light and exhaust parts! - Like the DOT numbers in the US).
Price is an issue as well. I've just sent off an email trying to get price & E approval mark questions answered by mike. Once I have a reply, I'll post the various German and French forums as well - I'm sure we could get 20 people together. Would look ace on a black Falco with LED bulbs and clear Mille indicators!

Once we know the price for a mould, we could get AF1 and Italobikes.de or other ditributers involved - maybe they want to add clear Falco lenses to their range (they already carry clear Mille lenses)? The larger the numbers produced, the cheaper it will be to pay off initial moulding costsI'll post as soon as I get a reply from Motobitz.

Motobiz is ok with the order - Price ~€50 / 35GBP & need for measurement
Folks,
I looks like it's feasible - Mike needs lense weight in grams, size and a mint original. Motobiz business address is in Wiltshire, I am trying to find out if Mike is located there . maybe some of you UK guys could du us the favour to drop by and hand out an original lens for measurement. Mike still owns motobiz, here is his reply to my mails: ______________ Hi Olivier Yes, they would be a clone of the original. I'd need someone to send me an absolutely mint OEM lens, as any defect or scratch would be replicated in each clear one. As a rough estimate, I'd say around 30 - 35GBP each (around $70USD or €50), if you can get 20 orders sorted. It partly depends on the weight and dimensions of the lens. Would be useful if you could get me the weight in grammes, and approx length, width & depth of the lens. (I used to have a Falco, but wasn't doing Motobitz then, so didn't obviously weigh it!). Hope that helps. I'm trying to sell the company as it's too labour intensive on top of my main job, but am still currently operating fully. Regards Mike -----Original Message----- From: Olivier Schäfer [mailto livier.schaefer@gmx.net]Sent: 29 April 2005 16:03 To: mike@motobitz.net Subject: Re: Clear lenses for Falco? Hi Mike, If we organise a Group buy (on the AF1 US Falco Forum, I already have a few interested) of let's say 20 + some more for resale, how much would it be per piece? Several UK members already interested, I'm sure I can get a few more buyers in Germany & the US. Maybe even the AF1 (US) and Italobike (Germany) Aprilia special parts distributers. Do you exactly copy the OEM part? I'm asking because we need the E approval numbers on the lens in Germany Regards Olivier mike@motobitz.net schrieb: >>Sorry, no. Jacques Chirac, The French Prime Minister, was sitting in his office wondering what kind of mischief he could perpetrate against the United States when his telephone rang. "Hallo, Mr. Chirac!", came a voice in heavy Gaelic accent. "This is Paddy down at the Harps Poob in County Sligo, Ireland. I’m a ringin’ ya to inform ye that we are officially declaring war on ya!". "Well, Paddy," Chirac replied in his best nasal accent, "This is indeed important news! How big is your army?" "Right now," said Paddy, after a moment's calculation, "there is meself, me cousin Sean, me next door neighbor Seamus, and the entire dart team from the poob. That makes eight!" Chirac paused. "I must tell you, Paddy, that I have one hundred thousand men in my army waiting to deploy on my command." "Begorra!" said Paddy. "I'll have to ring ya bawk!" Sure enough, the next day, Paddy called again. "Mr. Chirac, the war is still on. We have managed to get us some infantry equipment!" "And what equipment would that be, Paddy?" Chirac asked. "Well, we have two combines, a bulldozer, and Murphy's farm tractor." Chirac sighed, some what amused. "I must tell you, Paddy, that I have 6,000 tanks and 5,000 armored personnel carriers. Also, I've increased my army to one hundred fifty thousand men since we last spoke." "Saints preserve us!" said Paddy. "I'll have to get bawk to ya." Sure enough, Paddy rang again the next day. "Mr. Chirac, the war is still on!" We have managed to get ourselves airborne! We've modified Jackie McLaughlin's ultra-light with a couple of double barreled partridge guns in the cockpit, and four boys from the Shamrock Poob have joined us as well!" Chirac was silent for a minute and then cleared his throat. "I must tell you, Paddy, that I have 100 bombers and 200 fighter planes. My military complex is surrounded by laser-guided, surface-to-air missiles, not to mention an aircraft carrier and several destroyers. And since we last spoke, I've increased my army to two hundred thousand!" "Jesus, Mary, and Joseph!", said Paddy, "I'll have to ring ya bawk." Sure enough, Paddy called again the next day. "Top o' the mornin' to ya, Mr. Chirac! I am sorry to inform ye that we have had to call off the war." "I'm sorry to hear that," said Chirac. "Why the sudden change of heart?" "Well," said Paddy, "we've all had a long talk over a boonch of pints, and decided there's no fookin way we can feed two hundred thousand prisoners." |
