Transmission Belt Replacement?
To anyone who has had the belt changed or had it changed out because the book said so. Is it necessary to hook it up to a Axone and if so, what is the Axone programming or check on??

Would be nice to have a step by step instruction on how to change it.

Well, from first hand experience, I can tell you that STEP ONE is to order the custom wrench from Aprilia that is required to do this job. Back in March, Aprilia USA didn't have any, didn't have any from closed shops, and it took two months to get one from Italy. My dealer even called around to shops to try to borrow one, and nobody had it.
So, be sure to plan ahead on this one.

From what I understand the Axone displays any engine error codes and updates the mapping. On the Mana it might display transmission errors too. The change in vibration might be due to it updating the bikes computer.
I'd like to get the manual that the mechanics have to correct error codes (which will also have the proceedure to change the belt). The workshop manual is close to being usless unless you have an electrical engineering degree.

In a month or two I'll be doing the swap on mine. I can do a photo essay for people if they want. I'm off to the US again for the whole of August but I'll probably be doing te belt swap soon after I return.

That would be great. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would appreciate it.

I'm on my third belt now at 27K miles. I certainly wish I was more mechanically inclined, as that is not the cheapest service..
The only mechanical issues that I've had were due to poor chain maintenance. I was not properly lubing/cleaning my chain and would start to hear 'clunks' when accelerating from stop to 25 mph. |

Wow, your third belt!! thats some riding your putting in on yours ![]() Did your belt appear to be worn much on the second or third? Mine didn't look bad with 12767 miles, when I had it changed recently. Did they change the varaitors? They didn't change mine said that they "miked in spec" I assume measured them and said they didn't need replacing. I don't think I'll have the belt changed next time I'm suppose to because the belt looked good but definatly have the varaitors check/replaced next time, especially if any problems do arise.

The first one I had replaced didn't look particularly worn, but when compared to how wide it is supposed to be it was a lot more narrow.
The only part replacements were the belt and rear sprocket. The CVT really seems to cut down on sprocket wear. |
