Bought an SR50 Rally [PICS]

My wife has been interested in getting a scooter for awhile as her commute to work is only seven odd miles and she saw no sense in a car for the journey. We began looking and after a few weeks found a nice little Aprilia owned by a scooter enthusiast nearby.

We went and looked it over as well as took it for a ride and found everything to be in order. There were a few minor needs, such as new hand guards, mirrors and a fresh battery but mechanically it was sound. We came to an agreement on the price and she rode it home, all giggles and smiles the whole way.

These pictures are pretty horrible but it was a bit late and we couldn't be bothered going upstairs to get a real camera, so camera-phone images will have to do. Once it's cleaned up we'll get some much better daytime shots.

It's a 2004 SR50 Rally in Chip's Blue. I am hoping to find a used exhaust locally (though I NEVER see them on sale), derestict the variator and rejet the carb to get a bit more top speed out of it. It was decently quick on it's own though, reaching 35mph without a problem and creeping its way up to 40 before completely running out of steam.

She's loving it!

I'm a bit tied up with some car repairs and recovering from the flu, but we plan to remove the factory stickers and polish/buff the paint. She hasn't decided if she wants to get new OE vinyls, leave it bare or go a different direction entirely.

I would stay with a brighter color. Its mor eye catching and when it gets dirty you don't notice it as much. I'm thinking of repainting mine one day in the future. probly stay with the yellow glow look. may look into some glow in the dark colors or somthing different like that.
