Aprilia RS125, Hyosung GTR125, Yamaha YZF-R125, Honda CBR125r

I just got my motorcycle permit today, and I am taking the road test for my motorcycle license in 20 days. I live in New Jersey...

I am only interested in purchasing sportbikes, not the other kinds like the Honda Rebel, etc.

I do not want to kill myself on a bike, so I want to start slow and purchase one of these 4 bikes. They are smaller and better for beginners, as they are only 125cc engines.

Could anyone help me find the prices in USA Dollars of each of these motorcycles? I would be greatly appreciative. Also, I would appreciate some input, as to which one you reccommend. I have to purchase a bike this week, so some answers would really help. I am new to motorcycles and the forum, so please help me.

Thanks, JJ

The Aprilia RS125 isn't normally available foe the US. THere is a one off special import at the momenr - see your dealer - but the bikes won't be legal for road use.

As you're in US, I'd say go for the Honda. It's 4T and has enough power in it for a learner.

get a 2 stroke and you'll get a decent speed out of it and decent accelaration
the others are 4 strokes and slow

A Kawasaki ZXR250 might be a better option than those 125's

(here's a radical notion, given we're in the rs50 forum, but...)

Get an rs50. If you're really just starting out, the 50 will give you a good chance to get really familiar with turning/braking/shifting without having to worry about the bike getting away from you if you mess up. Ride it for a while, and then get something bigger a little later on.

they don't sell the rs125 in the USA! But they do have the rs250 but that's a big one 2 strokes have twice the power of a 4 stroke motor for the same displacement. I wouldn't recommend starting off on a rs250 look around for Kawasaki ninja 250 there cheap and not bad for a first bike.
Finding a rs50 here for sale is hard to come by because of such a small displacement.

i didn't think they allowed 2 stroke 125's in america because of pollution laws??

i second the honda vote. Rode one before and they are poweful enough for a begginner, obviously won't beat a 2 banger but in the US you don't really have much choice.

You won't kill yourself on a powerful bike, unless you ride like an idiot (a.k.a have fun lol )

it looks like it should be a 900+cc bike, not a 125.
