    Moldy old photos

The end of MotoGP season, the lack of interesting threads, a box of old photos, a scanner, and a pitifully obvious bout of attention-seeking nostalgia inspired this invitation to post your old motorcycle pictures.

We all got to Aprilias somehow. What influenced you?

You young-un’s are welcome if it’s OLD and MOTORCYCLE related.

Bikes that meant something, personally taken race pics others would like, old bike related stuff.

If it’s digital, it’s too new.

Get out those moldy prints and scan ‘em up.

Here’s my start. These are all 25 to 40 years old.

    Early riding style, circa 1970:

Same bike many years and mods later (’69 sandcast CB750):

My pretty CB450 custom, circa 1967:

An early infatuation with Italian V-twins, circa 1980:

    Texas World circa 1980:

No one could afford a haircut in those days:

My last race bike (Spondon TZ350):

Gary Nixon, Cal Rayborn, Frank Camilieri at the first Talladega AMA:

Dick Mann, the great all-around racer:

Crashed in practice at my first race:

V-twins, Atlanta to Nova Scotia circa 1981:

I'm currently going back to my '70's Japanese roots with a '78 GS1000 cafe project. I'll thow up pics in a few weeks when it's done.

Those are some great pics. A CB 450 with a "GT" seat. Dunstall fairing and dual discs on a CB 750 with TT100's on (now what was the name of those first aftermarket mags?).
Kenny with Kel, Bugs with Jim rice, etc. Hey, I KNOW those guys! How old does that make me?
It sure brings back the memories of my far-back-in-the-mists-of-time racing career.
I have no idea where my old racing clip scrapbooks are, I'll have to look. If I find it, I'll post some.

    Great!
I saw Kel win Road Atlanta on his Yam 350 after Cal Rayborn ran away in a tremendous display of riding skill, only to have his Harley break after a few laps.

The first time I saw Freddie was at a WERA race at Charlotte, circa 78-79. He was just a kid, riding for Shreveport Honda, I think. Maybe on a little Kaw triple? He just disappeared.

There was an AMA weekend at Road Atlanta with open mixed practice, pro and amateur. I was on my (amateur) Modified 350 when Wes blasted by a foot away (not that bike). I was duly impressed.
