Hi,
I might need a new engine for my 03 Tuono. Which model/year uses the same engine as the Tuono and will fit? Needless to say, my motor crapped out. It's making a horrid knocking sound (like a jack hammer) Will be diagnosed shortly.

Must be terminal to change the entire engine! Raises a good question though. Tuonos (up to 2005) use the 1999-2003 Mille engine. In 2004 the Mille engine changed, not sure if the mount points are any different though or just the internals...the frame changed so I would say they did.
WHat happened? Did you run it dry?
all the engine mount are the same up to the actual production...
all the Tuono 03-05 engines are the same, similar to the engine you can find on RSV >01. U can reconaise them because are painted only on the lh and rh carters, the rest of the engine in natural.
better if u fing an engine with the numbers ending by NG (new gear), is coming from a 2003 RSV, have different gear ratio- firt and second longer, forth, fifth and sixth closer
RSV 99-00 and Falcos used a different engine with smaller intake valves and differnt inlet cam lift (less HP!!). Those engines are painted all-over but the 99 engines are entirely natural
take care to don't buy an engine from Caponord-Futura!!
